Bella Hadid Gives an Inside Look Into Life with Lyme Disease
Bella Hadid, who was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in 2012 after a tick bite, has struggled with the autoimmune disorder alongside her brother, Anwar, and mother, Yolanda for nearly half her life. She’s taken to Instagram before to talk about the symptoms that she experiences on a regular basis, and two days ago, she took to her social media again to give us a rare glimpse into her life living with the chronic autoimmune disorder.
In the images, Hadid is hooked up to an IV while getting ready, presumably for work, and she captioned it. “Living with a few chronic auto immune disease = always finding time for my IVs.”
It serves as a great reminder that life isn’t always what we see in pictures, and we can never judge someone as we don’t know what they are battling in the background, as Hadid herself has tried to express before: “Life isn’t always what it looks like on the outside, and the hardest part of this journey is to be judged by the way you look instead of the way you feel.”

Lady Gaga's Dog Walker Shot Trying to Protect Her Frenchies
Last Wednesday, Lady Gaga’s dog walker, Ryan Fischer, was walking the singer’s three French bulldogs in Hollywood, when he was shot by two gunmen who were after the pups. Two of her dogs, Gustav and Koji, were taken by the criminals, while Fischer was left shot in the street with the third, Miss Asia, crying for help.
Gaga is currently in Rome filming the new biopic Gucci, in which she plays Patrizia Reggiani, the former wife (and later, convicted murderer) of Italian businessman Maurizio Gucci — the son of Rodolfo Gucci, grandson of Guccio Gucci, and one-time head of the Gucci fashion throne. Gaga finally spoke out on Instagram yesterday, offering a reward of $500,000 for the safe return of her two beloved family members, while praising Fischer as a hero. The dogs were returned that night by an unnamed woman and have been reunited with Gaga’s representatives. Fischer is currently being treated at Cedars Sinai Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. French Bulldogs are worth between $1,500 to $3,000 each, and can often be sold for more. The popular dogs are sadly often the victims of theft.

'Bridgerton' Merch Arrives Courtesy of Kamala Harris' Niece
While pandemic-inspired fashion trends lean more towards loungewear and comfort, it appears that the colorful and fanciful costumes of Bridgerton – Netflix’s record-breaking series – have also begun to inspire Spring/Summer 2021 collections. Not first of which is Phenomenal’s latest collaboration, courtesy of CEO and founder, Meena Harris – who just happens to be Madame Vice President Kamala Harris’s niece – who has teamed up with Netflix – not for the first time – to create a Bridgerton-inspired line.
The collection features three crewneck sweatshirts in pastel colors inspired by the costume palette, with trending lines from the hit series: “I burn for you”, “If there is a scandal I will uncover it”, and “Dear reader”, as well as a hoodie which has the script “I wish to be entertained” embossed across the chest.
Harris said in a statement, “Phenomenal has championed these same themes, emphasizing female ambition and the importance of bringing awareness to underrepresented communities, and ‘Bridgerton’ magnifies that messaging. By incorporating quotes from lead characters into our first drop, we’re celebrating the diversity and power that exists both in the cast and behind the scenes, from EP to showrunner.”
The Largest Painting on Canvas Is Royally Unveiled
From March to September of 2020, during global lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, British-born, Dubai-based artist and philanthropist, Sacha Jafri, spent his quarantine in the Atlantis, The Palm ballroom creating what is now the world’s largest painting on canvas. The 17,000 square-foot painting, entitled ‘The Journey of Humanity’, which was cut, stretched, and framed into 70 individual artworks, was reunited this past week once again in the Atlantis ballroom and unveiled in the presence of the painting’s patron, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan, Cabinet Member of the Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence as well as His Excellency Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Cares. Children from around the world were invited by Jafri’s charitable initiative, Humanity Inspired, to submit their drawings, pictures, paintings, collages, and sketches, which Jafri used to create the first layer of the canvas (the Soul) on the themes of isolation and connection.
‘The Journey of Humanity’ aims to raise more than AED110 million (USD30 million) across live auctions over the next 12 months, with the funds to be routed through Dubai Cares to the initiative’s beneficiary partners that include UNICEF, UNESCO, The Global Gift Foundation, and Dubai Cares for their humanitarian initiatives to tackle issues that have risen due to COVID-19 related to children’s digital access to connectivity and learning, as well as healthcare and sanitation.
Danielle Bernstein Joins TikTok — and the Backlash is Savage
Danielle Bernstein, the fashion blogger turned Insta-famous designer of WeWoreWhat fame, joined TikTok last week — and she is not being met with open arms. The comments on her first post went from annoyed to disgusted to downright savage. “Ohhh you came to the wrong app,” wrote one user, and “girl you are not gonna enjoy your time here,” wrote another.
With comments like “Hi guys, I’m Danielle, I made a career of stealing from small creators & blocking them to silence them, but get away with it bc I’m a thin white girl,” and “stay on instagram ms. clown couture”, it was very awkward scrolling through over 1,000 comments and literally only finding negative ones. Since her first post, the comments section of her TikTok has been wiped clean. Bernstein has been accused of copying designs from small designers twelve times.
Sheikh Mohammed Pays AED8 Million to Save a Little Girl's Life
Because of the generosity of His Royal Highness, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rasid Al Maktoum, a little girl has a new lease on life. A desperate mother, Massar Mundar, took to social media in a tearful plea to His Royal Highness for mercy, compassion, and generosity from the Dubai leader. Her 18-month-old daughter, Laveen, had been diagnosed with type two Spinal Muscle Atrophy (SMA) – a rare genetic disorder which without treatment results in difficulty walking, talking, and more importantly, breathing. The distraught family was told there were no treatment options in their home country, Iraq, and that the only treatment in the region was in Dubai at the Al Jalila Hospital. However, the costs were too high for the family. His Royal Highness saw the plea from the desperate mother, took pity, and agreed to cover the entire AED8 million cost of the life-saving gene therapy which will reverse the diagnosis.
“My wife made that desperate appeal for help on social media and imagine our surprise, when such a powerful leader actually made this gesture to help us. My daughter has a new lease of life, thanks to the generosity of Sheikh Mohammed,” said Laveen’s father, Ibrahim Jabbar Mohammad.
