Apparently, we can all get an education on TikTok now. Maybe it was due to international stay-at-home orders, or perhaps it was simply that TikTok found a niche in the social media world for quick tutorials on its short-form video platform, but the fact of the matter is that the popular app saw a growth of 300% in educational content. That is an astronomical figure by anyone’s standards. So, being the forward-thinking and clever little social media bunnies they are, TikTok has announced a new, weekly digital series to support the surge of quick-form learning.
You can start your TikTok education journey on February 25th, when the platform will begin hosting live sessions with regional celebrities and influencers to educate users on a variety of topics such as beauty, food, fitness, and music on a weekly basis.
Popular TikTokers have already been spreading the academic spirit, like psychotherapist Matthias J. Barker, who has a host of videos related to therapy and advice on conflict management/real life issues, Master Chef finalist Nick Digiovani, who is known for his cooking tutorials, and (anonymous) marketing mastermind @raisedproper,who does fantastic design tutorials on Photoshop. In case you’re interested.
Mahira Abdel Aziz, TV presenter on Al Arabiya, will be the host of each live session episode recorded at a specially designed #LearnOnTikTok studio in three to four segments. Azza Zarour, Nael Abu Alteen, Manal Rostom, and Haifa Beseisso will start off leading the weekly sessions covering topics from the business of social media to health and fitness.
Rami Zeidan, Head of Video and Creative at TikTok, says, “We have always envisioned TikTok to be a platform that not only inspires its users to get creative, but also helps increase their knowledge through content from other creators. The #LearnOnTikTok Live Show has been designed to enable users to discover new interests and passions while learning from regional experts in popular fields. We are confident our users will capitalize on this weekly opportunity and we look forward to new talents emerging on TikTok over the coming weeks.”
Next thing you know, Instagram will be offering photography degrees.
