Rihanna's Brand, Fenty, Is Going on Hiatus
COVID-19 has found yet another victim, and this time in the form of Rihanna’s Fenty clothing line.
The fashion brand, owned by LVMH along with Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, and Savage x Fenty lingerie, came to a mutual agreement with the French luxury conglomerate last Wednesday that the clothing line would be suspended “pending better conditions.” LVMH and Rihanna launched the Fenty fashion line in May 2019, but despite an exciting launch, success for the baby brand was disturbingly affected by the events of the global pandemic in its less than two-year history. On the other hand, the daring lingerie line, Savage x Fenty recently secured a $115 million deal with L Catterton, a private equity group, proving that the global pandemic continues to drive lingerie and loungewear brands forward in what is a difficult time for luxury.
Trump Acquitted in Impeachment Trial
The United States Senate has acquitted former President Donald Trump in his latest impeachment trial, this time for inciting an insurrection on January 6th when an angry mob stormed the Capitol while lawmakers were certifying the electoral votes following his election loss to President Joe Biden.
Five people were killed during the violent riot, including one law enforcement officer, and two officers later took their own lives. A majority of senators moved to convict Trump in the final vote (57 to 43), however, a majority of two-thirds (67 votes) were needed to convict. This is the second time the Senate has acquitted Donald Trump.

The Original Supreme, Mary Wilson, Dies at 76
Mary Wilson, one of the original founding members of The Supremes along with Diana Ross and Florence Ballard, passed away suddenly last week at the age of 76. In many ways, Wilson was the glue that kept the Supremes together as long as she could. Overshadowed by Ross, Wilson was relegated to background singer by Berry Gordy, the group’s manager and Ross’ paramour. Despite successes and setbacks, and Ross eventually leaving the group to begin her solo career, Wilson remained the singular original Supreme and de facto band leader. In a tell-all 1986 memoir entitled Dreamgirl: My Life as a Supreme, Wilson gave first-hand accounts of the drama the divas went through backstage, opening up the curtains to a world that had remained distinctly hidden by Motown.
