Chrissy Teigen Defends Meghan Markle After She Reveals She Suffered a Miscarriage
Last week, Meghan Markle revealed in an op-ed she wrote for the New York Times that she and her husband, Prince Harry, suffered through a miscarriage this past July. In the article, she articulates the “pain and grief” that is all-consuming after experiencing such a loss, and urges the public to continue to open up lines of communication around such tragedies so that women no longer feel ashamed or like they need to suffer alone. In Markle’s raw and vulnerably open way, she described her own experience of the moment she was holding her first born when she felt a sharp cramp in her stomach:
“I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right,” she wrote. “Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears… Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.”
Buckingham Palace has denied commenting on such a personal matter, but Chrissy Teigen took to Twitter to defend the duchess against the trolls who immediately began criticizing Markle for being open about her grief. Teigen called one particular troll “the winner of today’s absolute piece of sh*t.” She later deleted the tweet, by saying “Sorry forgot I was trying to be nicer lol.” Teigen and husband, John Legend, also suffered a miscarriage this year and went under heavy criticism when she opened up about her experience.
The Weeknd Calls the Grammys "Corrupt" After He is Completely Snubbed
The Weeknd took to Twitter this week after he was notably snubbed by the Grammys and not given any nominations, despite the success of his number one album, After Hours, and his hit single ‘Blinding Lights’, which sat for 19 weeks atop the Billboard chart, surpassing the Goo Goo Dolls‘ ‘Iris’ and moving into sole possession of the record for the chart’s longest-reigning No. 1 since its introduction in 1990.
“The Grammys remain corrupt,” he tweeted. “You owe me, my fans, and the industry transparency…”
“We understand that The Weeknd is disappointed at not being nominated. I was surprised and can empathize with what he’s feeling,” said Harvey Mason Jr., head of the Recording Academy. “Unfortunately, every year, there are fewer nominations than the number of deserving artists.” Other stars, like Elton John and Drake, have come to the musician’s defense claiming ‘Blinding Lights’ is song of the year despite the absence of a nomination and declaring the Grammys “may no longer matter” and at the very least should be replaced.
Beyoncé leads with nine nominations, only slightly ahead of Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa, with six nominations each.

Saved by the Bell Apologizes to Selena Gomez After Airing Jokes About Her Kidney Transplant
The recent reboot of the popular 90s sitcomm Saved by the Bell, has issued a public apology to Selena Gomez after writing and airing jokes about her kidney transplant. In an episode centered around the fact that none of the students at Bayside High have access to their phones and therefore cannot fact check information at the drop of a hat, students joked about who Selena Gomez’s kidney donor was.
“I know for a fact that Selena Gomez’s kidney donor was Justin Bieber’s mom. God, I wish that I had my phone so that I could prove it,” one student says. “Prove what?” the other replies. “That you’re an idiot? It was Demi Lovato’s kidney. They’re best friends, like you and I were.” In another moment of the show, “Does Selena Gomez even have a kidney?” is clearly graffitied above the lockers.
Gomez has been transparent about her diagnosis of lupus since 2015, for which she was undergoing chemo treatment, and recently received a kidney transplant thanks to the generous donation of her own kidney by her close friend, the actress Francia Raísa. After the episode aired, Gomez’s fans took to the internet to express their displeasure and shock at a television program making light of someone’s serious medical issues. NBCUniversal issued a statement, along with Peacock and the show’s executive producers saying, “We apologize. It was never our intention to make light of Selena’s health. We have been in touch with her team and will be making a donation to her charity, The Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC.”

Balenciaga to Launch Its Fall 21 Collection via Video Game
In an innovative, creative, and courageous move, Balenciaga has decided to launch its Fall 2021 collection via Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow, a ground-breaking video game designed specifically for this season. In an allegorical adventure set in 2031, our not-so-distant future, the game makers imagine our world in ten years, as the hero of the journey has to move through the game completing tasks and interactions, all the while seeing the new collection in an in-depth look using the most advanced technology available in the largest volumetric video project ever undertaken.
Anchored in mythological pasts and potential futures, players encounter imagery and archetypes as the world transforms from what appears to be a dystopian society into a healthier, more balanced return of nature and industry. Once a player has beaten the game, they are invited into a very real-world breathing exercise set in a virtual utopia.
The sheer genius and magnitude of an invention like this continues to show that the fashion industry can push the envelope and bring about creative change even in the midst of so much uncertainty. We for one, cannot wait to play the game.

'Mulan' Comes to OSN This Week Just in Time for Our Five-Day Holiday
The long-awaited release of Mulan, the live-action version of the Disney classic of the same name, hits OSN on our home streaming devices on December 3rd here in the GCC. Now for about AED35 a month, not only can you enjoy the best of Disney Plus, The Mandalorian, and the ever-popular HBO shows, but you can also be the first ones to watch Mulan — the movie about a young Chinese girl who defied tradition to save her father, and ends up becoming one of China’s greatest warriors — only 90 days after it was released in the cinemas.
If you don’t already have OSN, there is no need to worry. Amazingly, the online platform is also allowing non-subscribers to join for the virtual premiere on December 3rd, as well as have 24 hours of access to the library of content hosted on the site. With the National Day long weekend coming up, we’re pretty sure we will make room for the movie between the Christmas cookie baking and decorating.

Hublot Celebrates Its 40th Birthday
To celebrate its 40th birthday, Hublot has installed a phygital exhibition physically located in its headquarters in Switzerland, but available to be viewed from anywhere in the world. Featuring a look through the last 40 years of the small little watch brand that scaled the Alps, the exhibition – designed by Samuel Ross – focuses on how Hublot’s innovative and founding concept the ‘Art of Fusion’ shaped the brand throughout the decades into what it is today.
Hublot is renowned for fusing opposites like past and present into a distinctly futuristic watch. Or fusing traditional watchmaking acumen with more modern and advanced technologies, as well as classic mechanisms with all-new constructions.
“The revolutionary concept of the Art of Fusion has forged Hublot’s success throughout its journey, and has led it to be first, unique, and different.” says Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot. “Its most powerful expression — the iconic Big Bang in 2005 — defined Hublot’s identity and became the driving force behind its Manufacture and its Research & Development department. Today, this best-seller continues to inspire the brand to reinvent itself and look to the future. This principle is part of Hublot’s genetics, and a success story that is only just beginning.”
