Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes Collab Turns Frenemies to Besties

Everybody is talking about it. The new collaboration between Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes is blowing up the internet, and for good reason. Bieber and Mendes haven’t always had a close relationship. After all, Bieber got engaged to Hailey Baldwin (now Bieber) a mere two months after she was seen at the Met Gala with her then boyfriend, Mendes. And in an interview, Bieber was asked if he had any words of wisdom for then up-and-coming Shawn Mendes, the young singer whose career looked a lot like his own. Bieber infamously responded, “Who is Shawn Mendes?”

But apparently, all of that is water under the bridge, because the two young idols-turned-pop-stars have collaborated on a profoundly personal and revealing new song, titled “Monster”, strangely reminiscent of “Lonely” — Bieber’s recent collaboration with Benny Blanco, as if it could be the sequel we didn’t realize we wanted.

Mendes talked to Elton John about his new friendship with the Biebs in an interview, saying, “I had this song called ‘Monster’ that I wrote a long time ago. It’s about how society wants to put celebrities up on a pedestal, but as much as they want to do that, they want to celebrate the fall… I called Justin and said, ‘I have this song and it means a lot to me. If it means something seriously to you and you want to put something very real on it, please be a part of this with me.’ And he did. Since then, we have become closer than ever. Sometimes I think that music comes along for a bigger reason, which, for me in this case is to create a song to inspire people, but to also create a friendship that was never there before.

Dubai 'Jetman', Vince Reffet, Dies During Training Accident

Vince Reffet, aged 36, died during a training accident in the desert last week. The Frenchman, who was the son of two professional skydivers, worked at Jetman Dubai as an extreme athlete tasked with flying through the air strapped to a four-engine, carbon-Kevlar wings with speeds reaching up to 248 miles per hour. Reffet and Yves Rossy, the company’s founder, made history in 2015 when the pair flew over Dubai next to an Emirates Airbus A380 double-decker jetliner.

Reffet was a daredevil who was also known to go viral with his daring stunts, like the time he jumped from a mountain into a moving plane wearing nothing but a wing suit, or when he BASE jumped the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

Jetman Dubai released a statement on the company’s Instagram following Reffet’s tragic accident, saying, “Vince was a talented athlete, and a much-loved and respected member of our team. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all those who knew and worked with him.”

Alan Rickman's Personal Journals to Be Released as a Book

For 25 years, Alan Rickman, the beloved actor who portrayed the misunderstood Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films, as well as Emma Thompson‘s cheating husband, Harry, in Love Actually, wrote in his personal journals detailing his life and times as an actor, discussing politics, opinions, acting tips, and behind-the-scenes moments on major sets – like Harry Potter. The British actor continued to write in his journals until his tragic death from pancreatic cancer in 2016. Now, Canongate has reportedly acquired the rights to the handwritten journals and will be publishing them in a book in 2022, titled, “The Diaries of Alan Rickman.”

Come Rain or Shine, 'Wonder Woman: 1984' is Finally Being Released on Christmas Day

Fans – okay, we – have anxiously been waiting for the new Wonder Woman movie to be released. Because of the global pandemic, release dates for many major blockbusters keep getting pushed back, and just when we thought it was coming out in October, the powers that be had to pull the plug yet again. But Wonder Woman herself confirmed on her Instagram this past week, along with female director, Patty Jenkins, and a whole slew of cast mates, that Wonder Woman: 1984 would be released to the fans come hell or high water on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020. The director urged fans to see the movie on the big screen if it was safe to do so, but that if it was not, they wanted people to at least have access to the movie so they are also releasing it via HBOMax.

While OSN does have HBO, the company has yet to acquire HBOMax, therefore, we will be heading to the movie theaters on Christmas Day (safely) for this long-awaited release. In the meantime, Mulan will be available on OSN Streaming starting on December 3rd, so that should tide us over until Christmas.

'Black Panther' Sequel to Begin Filming in July 2021

Speaking of superheroes, Marvel was thrown off by the tragic death of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman earlier this year. The sequel to the box office hit was scheduled to begin filming in March 2021, however, producers, studio, and cast mates alike went into mourning after Boseman’s passing, with no talks of what the franchise would do without their lead actor. It is still unknown who is going to take up Boseman’s mantle, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel has announced that filming will commence in Atlanta, Georgia in July 2021. This leaves a mere eight months for whoever is stepping into the role to prepare to fill the enormous shoes that Boseman left behind.

Carolina Herrera's New Ready-to-Wear Beauty Line is Our New Obsession

Just give us all the red lipsticks. But seriously, Carolina Herrera‘s recently launched ‘Herrera Beauty,’ a fully customizable ready-to-wear makeup line, is not only stunningly beautiful on, but gorgeous just sitting in our handbag.

Most of the time, we want to keep our makeup hidden and out of the way, but not this time. With three gorgeous shades of red, including the iconic Carolina red, we want to apply the satin, matte, and sheer tones to our lips all day and all night mainly so we can show off our new printed cases that are fully customizable. The powders, offering ‘satiny’ coverage from the lightest shades to the darkest hues, also come in a customizable compact, along with Herrera Beauty Brushes that are portable and precise. We are officially obsessed. Can someone please tell Santa Claus we’ve been good girls?

Breitling Wins Two Awards at the 20th Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève

Thursday, November 12th was a big day for Breitling. At the 2020 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) Awards, the Swiss luxury watchmaker was nominated in five categories and brought home the award for both the ‘Petite Aiguille Watch Prize’ and the ‘Diver’s Watch Prize.’ Breitling CEO, Georges Kern, was at the ceremony at the Théâtre du Léman in Geneva which was only attended by winners, jury members, and relevant authorities.

“We are proud that, even in this year’s challenging circumstances and despite the lockdown, we remained committed to our strategy and our mission: we continued to launch extraordinary new products, such as the ‘Top Time’ in March and the ‘Chronomat’ in April, followed by the ‘Endurance Pro’ and the new ‘Chronomat for Women’ in autumn,” said Kern. “Our modern-retro design approach has resonated with people around the world, and we are increasingly appreciated as a casual, inclusive, and sustainable alternative to more traditional luxury brands. This recognition from the GPHG confirms that we’ve been on the right path, and we are proud of these two prizes.”
