Dubai is like Disneyland for adults (and kids too), but it can be overwhelming and time-consuming to filter through everything our gorgeous city has to offer on the weekends. Let’s be honest, after you’ve worked all week long, the last thing you want to do is waste your precious R&R time sifting through offers and websites. Sometimes, you miss the best events because it takes too long to find them.
Savoir Flair is here to help start your weekend off on the right note. We are giving you our favorite picks for what you should be doing this weekend in Dubai. So whether it’s a much-needed day at the beach, a well-deserved spa treatment, or a day of adventure, you have never felt more on holiday than you will in Dubai this weekend.
The Youth Have Taken Over
Probably the most exciting art exhibit open at the moment is at the Jameel Arts Centre where The Assembly, a young group of UAE based artists ranging in ages between 18-24, have taken over the Centre for two weeks with their own creative explorations centered around the idea of “re-interpreting values across disciplines and reimagining the ever-changing complexities of our environment.”
In “Reassigning Values”, 25 of the collective’s artists, whose work was selected and curated by their peers, have invited the public to engage with them through their artwork, virtual and real-life events, workshops, and performances. The exhibitions opened on October 30th and will run through November 16th. The initiative is a huge step for the young, artistic and creative community of the UAE as they continue to question, create, explore, progress, and grow in their artistic expression.
“We intend to sing the courage in our work, and vow to magnify our role as members of the bold youth that will instigate change. The Influence of our form and color now becomes clear. A green building, a green screen, and a much greener future.” -The Assembly

A Ladies Tea and A Workshop? Yes Please.
With an Arabic twist on an old British classic, celebrity Chef Silvena Rowe has partnered with Park Hyatt Dubai to launch ‘Ottoman Whispers,’ a new afternoon high tea exclusively for ladies, this weekend. Featuring tantalizing delicacies like black truffle scented soft cheese muffins, Za’atar beetroot, crispy walnut baklava, white chocolate and cardamom mousse, as well as saffron rice pudding. If your taste buds aren’t salivating already, Newby Teas will be showcasing their new collection of teas and hosting rotating workshops like flower arrangements, cake design, and the art of pottery.
See and Independent Film
Back by popular demand, Cinema Akil has extended their viewings for the beautiful film, 1982, starring Nadine Labaki and directed by Oualid Mouaness for one more week. The moving film centers on 11-year old Wissam who has decided he will tell his classmate, Joanna, that he loves her on the last day of school in the mountains. The innocence of youth and young love is juxtaposed against the harsh reality that Wissam’s teachers face as they struggle to mask their fears and political opinions during the 1982 invasion of Lebanon.
