The entire world is buzzing because tech giant Apple has (finally) announced the release of its new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini. But Apple releases a new iPhone every year, so why is this such a big deal? Because it’s the first time that 5G will be available on an Apple gadget, marking a revolutionary turn in iPhone capabilities and unlocking a new era of potential in what we are capable of doing in a nanosecond.
5G means the new iPhone is faster and smarter, resulting in higher-quality streaming and real-time reactivity. Smart Data can assess on its own when to save battery life, and will soon mean you won’t want to connect to WiFi because 5G is simply better. The iPhone 12 is also 11% thinner, 15% smaller, and 16% lighter than its predecessor.
Still available in a range of colors and with Apple’s new sleek edge-to-edge OLED display, the new iPhone also features a more durable, ceramic screen, and is the first phone in the world whose camera can shoot HDR videos with end-to-end Dolby Vision, enabling users to capture, edit, and share cinema-worthy videos. Steve Jobs would be proud.
Pre-orders for iPhone 12 begin Friday, October 16, with availability beginning Friday, October 23. The iPhone 12 mini will be available for pre-order beginning Friday, November 6, and in stores beginning Friday, November 13.
