A mere four or five months ago, the following words would’ve made no sense: “The world’s 1st museum for art born during Covid19 quarantine”. Today, they form the bio of an Instagram account that has racked up over 69,000 followers in a matter of weeks. Meet The Covid Art Museum, a virtual gallery that showcases the best artworks born in quarantine.

The brainchild of three advertising professionals from Barcelona, The Covid Art Museum is now a meeting point for creatives from around the world, illustrating the type of creativity that is fueled by today’s unprecedented circumstances. Not only does it offer respite to culture vultures who can’t physically make it to galleries and museums, but it also proves that art never stops. Naturally, themes such as hand-washing, face masks, and solitude reign supreme, and seemingly no medium is left untapped – illustrations, videos, photographs, paintings, and animations all make an appearance.

Anybody can submit a piece for inclusion on the Instagram account with the hashtag #CovidArtMuseum, with artist anecdotes enriching the viewing process. The museum’s coordinators hope to move some of the works to a physical exhibition when all this is over, but until those glorious days arrive, here’s a walk-through to get you acquainted.
