As we continue to live through history in the making, it was only a matter of time until film festivals adapted to these unprecedented circumstances by going online for the very first time. Enter: We Are One: A Global Film Festival, a digital film festival streaming free on YouTube.
Produced and organized by global media company Tribeca Enterprises, the 10-day event will feature programming from 20 leading film festivals worldwide, including Cannes Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, and Venice Film Festival among others. And to the delight of cinephiles everywhere, everything – films, shorts, documentaries, music, comedy, and panel discussions – will be accessible free of charge. And entirely free of ads. Win-win.
While the specifics of the program are yet to be released (a full schedule will be available in the coming weeks), we know this: viewers will be able to contribute towards COVID-19 relief efforts, with donations benefiting both World Health Organization and local relief partners. “We often talk about film’s uniquely powerful role in inspiring and uniting people across borders and differences to help heal the world. All of the world needs healing right now,” said Tribeca Enterprises Co-Founder and CEO Jane Rosenthal.
We Are One: A Global Film Festival will run May 29 to June 7. Catch it here.
