The phrase “united we stand, divided we fall” has never felt so apt, and uniting some of the biggest names is film, fashion, television, wellness, music, and more at this crucial time is The Call to Unite. Spearheaded by Tim Shriver, chairman and CEO of the Special Olympics, this global live-stream event will span a whopping 24 hours and offer hope and support through songs, lessons, performances, practices, conversations, and reflections to those experiencing pain, fear, grief, and loneliness – which might just be all of us right about now.
On the roster to participate? Everyone from Oprah Winfrey and Deepak Chopra to Common, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Garner, Naomi Campbell, Mandy Moore, and plenty more. The event is soliciting donations to provide relief to those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and viewers will be able to submit theirs directly through the livestream to GiveDirectly (which is helping lower-income people impacted by the pandemic) and Points of Light (which assists organizations and non-profits on maximizing their relief efforts). The Call to Unite will take kick off on Friday, May 1 at 8 p.m. EDT. Watch it here.
