There is no “right way” to handle social distancing. With the world at large undergoing a collective trauma, responses and reactions to the pandemic are as varied as the humans on this planet. Some are belting opera from their balconies, others are baking as a form of denial, and still others are turning their pets into personal therapists. However, you’re handling – or not handling – quarantine, just know that it’s okay to not be okay.
Like the rest of us, celebrities are also sheltering at home, having watched their music, television, and film projects grind to a halt. Some aren’t handling it so well, as in the case of misplaced tirades against the virus. Others are handling it with grace, humor and, yes, a sprinkle of unhinged derangement. Cooped up and going cuckoo? These celebrities are helping us get through lockdown, one breakdown at a time.
Cardi B
We thought the whole point of Jenga was to not knock all of the blocks down, but Cardi B just proved that a new approach could be the form of catharsis we’re looking for.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Without her glam squad around, Julia Louis-Dreyfus tries her hand at doing her own makeup while sharing an important PSA – and the result really is “perfect”.
January Jones
January Jones has found a brand new hobby, and of course, she’s a natural at it.
Julianne Moore
Julianne Moore is keeping herself busy by vacuuming her lawn. Yes, we have questions.
Kate Beckinsale
Dressed up in a ballerina hippo suit, Kate Beckinsale dances across her backyard to classical music. We shall say no more.
Chrissy Teigen
While there is plenty advice out there for getting ready for a Zoom meeting, you could take a page out Chrissy Teigen’s book and cover up completely in an unusual accessory. Warning: your colleagues might start to question your sanity.
Kristen Bell
Kristen Bell animates her (real life) puppy Barbara Biscuits to make it look like she’s singing Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer”. The bizarre results are accurately captured by one comment: “Haunting.”
Millie Bobby Brown
Millie Bobby Brown cartwheels across her yard to her favorite Hannah Montana song, and then performs a delightfully unhinged dance that reminds us all too much of what we look like dancing alone in our rooms.
Madonna
Madonna shares a couple of deep thoughts in a film noir-style video entitled “Quarantine Diary #10”.
Kristin Chenoweth
Kristin Chenoweth hits high notes while dressed in a Winnie the Pooh costume and inexplicably poses with different things around her house like her dog and Barbie doll version of herself. No judgment.
Melissa McCarthy
Melissa McCarthy shares an aspect of quarantine dressing that we can all relate to. Celebrities, they’re just like us!
Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore took her friend Stella McCartney on the #StellaStaircase challenge, which saw the designer riding swiftly down her stairs on a blanket, like a kid on a sled. Let’s just say that Barrymore’s attempt wasn’t quite as swift.
Naomi Watts
Naturally, we have to close out this list with the celebrity meltdown moment that best captured the frustration and angst of life in lockdown. Take it away, Naomi Watts.
