March 1 to May 31: Discover Nikkei
Bringing a unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine – a.k.a. Nikkei – to diners is the Kayto pop-up at Jumeirah Al Naseem. Here, chef Cristian Goya is using Peruvian ingredients to bring out the best in delicate Japanese-style fare, ranging from delicious starters such as ‘Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna Tartare’ to must-order mains like ‘Saikyo Miso Black Cod’ and ‘Wagyu Beef Tataki’ that is served with Kayto’s signature sauces. March 3 to 8: Celebrate Women
Music, art, words, film, poetry, panel discussions, and more – it’s all happening at Femme Fest as feminist platform Female First Sessions celebrates International Women’s Day. The various sessions will be divided between The Dubai Mall, Chicago Meatpackers, Cinema Akil, and Analog Room, but what they all have in common is women in the city on a mission to empower, encourage, and elevate. March 4 to 7: Head for the Dunes
Everything’s better under the stars – movies included. That’s why we’re excited for the first ever edition of Al Marmoom: Film in the Desert. Celebrating just how long the desert has captivated filmmakers, the program features four days of film screenings showcasing works by Emirati and UAE-based filmmakers – adventure film Theeb, documentary Sharp Tools, and drama Mimosas included. If catching a flamenco show is on your bucket list but a trip to Spain isn’t on the horizon, The Workshop is where it’s at. March 10: Please Your Palate
You love Italian food, you love Asian cuisine – and you’re in for a treat. Chef Michael White from Marea and Chef Akmal Anuar from 3 Fils are joining forces for one night only, hosting a very special six-course menu entitled East Meets West.This marriage of flavors will feature a combination of seafood starters from each chef, two never-tasted-before pasta courses that have been created exclusively for the night, and a joint main course, with chocolate creations rounding things up. March 13 to 14: Be Well
Wellness center Life’n One is hosting a two-day wellness weekend and conscious market from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in honor of some “big news” that will be announced soon. This will translate to live music, yoga sessions, special talks, an opportunity to meet holistic experts, several local vendors selling specialty products, and more – and it’s free to attend! March 14: Take a Walk
Explore a side of Dubai you may not have seen and hone your street photography skills with the Creekside: Street Photography photo walk hosted by Gulf Photo Plus. Not only will this three-hour trek teach you techniques to overcome unfavorable lighting conditions – regardless of the camera or cell phone in use – and tips on how to compose an image, but it will also take you on a route through Dubai Creek that is is laced with culture and history. March 17: Freshen Up
Winter, schminter, afternoons in Dubai are always hot and the sweat that comes with them isn’t cute. Enter: a session at The Workshop addressing how store-bought deodorants are packed with chemicals that feed directly into your lymph nodes, which happen to be the body’s most sensitive nodes and populate at your armpits. Over 20 new gallery exhibitions will feature alongside artist talks, tours, and workshops during Art Week at Alserkal Avenue. We recommend starting with a visit to Concrete to take in New Waves: Mohamed Melehi and the Casablanca Art School Archives, which opens on March 14 and tells the story of the radical Casablanca Art School. March 23 to 29: Be Beautiful
Having emerged from the same ethos as The Amanqi Edit, the recently launched The Amanqi Lab curates the finest selection of clean beauty products and is hosting its second Beauty Wellness Week. March 27 will see the platform host its first fitness class with CRANK – accented with special Lush goodies, no less. The following day, The Amanqi Lab will host a pop-up of Glow Getter’s clean beauty brands at Genki in Wasl 51, while a panel of experts will appear at the Clean Beauty Collective on March 29. March 25 to 28: Immerse in Art
Art Dubai returns to Madinat Jumeirah, except that in light of the escalating coronavirus outbreak, it will host a Dubai-focused program instead of the usual international art fair. This will include local and regional gallery presentations, Global Art Forum, Residents, and Campus Art Dubai.
