Oscars 2020 Makes History
The 92nd Academy Awards maintained the status quo when it came to excluding female directors from the nominations and overlooking talented people of color. However, one exciting and history-making change swept the ceremony – Korean dark comedy Parasite won for Best Picture, marking the first time a non-English language film had ever won in the category. It also won for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film. Other winners included Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) for Best Actor, Laura Dern (Marriage Story) for Best Supporting Actress, and Renée Zellweger (Judy) for Best Actress.

Olympic Committee Selects First Female Torchbearer
One of the Olympic Games’ most prestigious traditions is the ceremony relaying the torch that will eventually light the Olympic cauldron. It has been carried on since 1936 and, in 2020, it will see its first female torchbearer carry the auspicious flame. Greek athlete and champion shooter Anna Korakaki has been selected for the honor of kicking off the ceremony, with the initial leg of the relay beginning with her in Olympia on March 12. After making its way around Greece, it will be flown to host city Tokyo, where the 2020 Summer Olympics will begin on July 24.
Dior Celebrates the Anniversary of the Iconic 'Bar' Jacket
In 1947, Christian Dior changed the landscape of fashion forever with his ‘New Look’ silhouette. By freeing women from suffocating corsets, and shaping his silhouette with impeccable tailoring and fabrics lined with either stiff percale or taffeta, Dior’s ‘New Look’ became the benchmark for feminine, wasp-waisted perfection. The ‘Bar’ jacket was central to the ‘New Look’, and survives to this day as one of the most iconic fashion pieces in existence. With its cinched waist, shaped hips, and rounded neckline, the ‘Bar’ jacket is a beautifully crafted tribute to Dior’s eternal sophistication. In 2020, it celebrates its 73rd anniversary at the house of Dior, and for the occasion, Dior lets us inside the ateliers at 30 Avenue Montaigne to see how the ‘Bar’ jacket is created.
