In a world where we wake up to headlines about war, racism, disease, natural disasters, and environmental destruction on a nearly daily basis, we have a soft spot in our hearts for an Instagram account by the name of @globalpositivenews. True to its name, it shares stories from around the globe that are inspirational and heartwarming enough to restore your faith in humanity – and we’ve long been followers of the account here at Savoir Flair.

However, it’s only in the past few days that its number of followers is growing by the minute and, in an interesting turn of events, a shout-out to its posts has actually faced tremendous backlash. Why? Because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle started February by taking to Instagram to not only follow it, but also recommend it to their followers. However, it only took a day or two before eagle-eyed Instagram users noticed that the collage serving as a royal plug actually includes an ad for the online store of Global Positive News, pointing out that the duo is backing a company – not a charity. It comes as no surprise that the couple is dividing opinions once again, but we are delighted it gave us an excuse to share these acts of kindness with you.

Better with sound 🔊 | A chance encounter on the road left Anna Heusler in total dismay. She had been cycling as part of a group of a dozen other cyclists toward Adelaide when right in the middle of the road she saw a koala, apparently very thirsty as the temperatures had reached 40C (104F). + “This Koala walked right up to me as I was descending and climbed up onto my bike while I gave him water. BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO ME ON A RIDE EVER,” she wrote on Instagram, sharing footage of the little koala taking big gulps of water from her flask. + She since started a GoFundMe page and has raised upwards of $50,000 to fund a rescue team caring for more than 100 sick or injured koalas in Adelaide, Australia. + To those interested, link to Anna’s GoFundMe campaign is in her bio: @bikebug2019 + Edit: As many, including myself didn’t know, giving water to a koala like this can be dangerous. The proper way to give water to a 🐨 is with a cup or a bowl. — h/t: Unilad Video: @bikebug2019 ••• @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews . . . #caring #heartwarming #positivepsychology #globalpositivenews #news #tanksgoodnews #Positivenews #positivenergy #positivity #onemillionactsofgood #kindness #kindnessmatters #randomactsofkindness #actsofkindness #cyclistlife #kindpeople #dehydrated #koala #koalas #koalalove #wildlife #australianfires #australia🇦🇺 #bushfiresaustralia #wildfires #savinganimals #makingadifference #animallove #helpinganimals

Of the hundreds of flights I’ve operated, I’ve had the pleasure of looking after footballers, supermodels and some Hollywood movie stars but let me tell you about my two favourite passengers EVER! + Jack and Violet 💜 (I wish she was called Vera or Rose 🤣) Jack and his family purchased seats in our upper class cabin for a flight home from New York, but when he got onboard, Jack went and found violet in economy and swapped seats with her. + He then sat on the row of seats directly next to the economy toilets and never made a peep or asked for anything the rest of the flight. No fuss, no attention, literally did it out of the kindness of his own heart, no one asked him too. + Violet is 88years old, has been a nurse in both the UK and over in America. She travels to New York to see her daughter, but hasn’t been able to for a while because of a knee replacement. Her dream has always been to sit at the front, and Jack made that come true. + You should have seen her face, when I tucked her in her bed after supper ☺️ She said her daughter won’t believe her, and wanted a ‘selfie’ to prove it, but didn’t have a phone or an email address. These photos are getting sent in the post tomorrow, can you even cope 😩😍❤️😭😊 – via: Leah Amy / Facebook ••• @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews . . . #caring #heartwarming #positivepsychology #globalpositivenews #news #tanksgoodnews #Positivenews #positivenergy #positivity #onemillionactsofgood #kindness #kindnessmatters #randomactsofkindness #actsofkindness #firstclass #firstclassflight #dreamcometrue #strangers #faithinhumanityrestored #kindnessofstrangers #elderly #elderlycare #frontseat #virginatlantic #firstclasstravel

Back in 2008, former journalist and TV producer, Donald Kerr, was diagnosed with vascular dementia and glaucoma. This left him with memory loss and limited vision. In the early 1990s in Spain Donald had met the love of his life – his future wife Margaret. In 2009 they got married but Donald’s health kept deteriorating. + On Easter 2019, 86-year-old Donald unexpectedly asked Margaret if she would marry him – exactly 26 years after the day he proposed to her the first time when they got married. + The renewal wedding ceremony was held at the nursing home in West Kirby, UK. Family, friends and carers created a “sailing” theme throughout the ceremony to share the couple’s love for sailing. + “It was just the happiest day,” said 62-year-old Margaret, feeling young again. — h/t: Liverpool Echo Photo: Liverpool News ••• @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews . . . #caring #heartwarming #positivepsychology #globalpositivenews #news #tanksgoodnews #Positivenews #positivenergy #positivity #onemillionactsofgood #mademecry #imnotcrying #imnotcryingyouarecrying #dementia #dementiaawareness #forgetting #husbandgoals #husbandlove #husbandlife #marriagegoals #marriageproposal #proposal #memoryloss #renewalofvows #renewal #glaucoma #marriageceremony

Mary Maclinnes, 21, keeps memories of a late loved one alive by making “memory bears” out of the favourite clothes of the deceased. People can display the bears at home as a reminder of the person and the time spent with them. + Some of the “memory bears” include jewellery and ashes. There is also a special pocket at the back of the bears, where families can put letters and other mementoes. + Five years ago Maclinnes made her first bear as a favor to a friend and since then she has been getting constant requests to make more of them. Since she uploaded photos of them on Facebook, her page “exploded” with requests. + The work is sometimes “emotionally draining” to know the story of the late person but the grateful reaction of her customers makes her always know the effort is really worth it. — h/t: Metro Photos: Mary Mac / Facebook ••• @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews . . . #caring #heartwarming #positivepsychology #globalpositivenews #news #tanksgoodnews #Positivenews #positivenergy #positivity #onemillionactsofgood #kindness #kindnessmatters #randomactsofkindness #actsofkindness #teddybearlove #teddybears #lostlovedones #lovedones #memoriesforlife #memories💕 #creativitymatters #creativityfound #sewingproject #helpingpeople #helpingothers #oldclothes #reused

Steph Veerman was off to college and asked her dad, Dan, to take care of her “precious” hamster, Chester. What she didn’t expect was that her father, a lawyer, “ended up pretty attached to Chester”. + Sadly, one day, dad saw the hamster had broken out of his cage and had potentially hidden somewhere inside the house. Panicked, he started sending his daughter minute-by-minute updates about his search and rescue efforts. + He told Steph he was “wicked sorry” and that he would “keep looking all day”. He would even skip work to keep on with the search. “You shouldn’t skip work. You are a lawyer and he is a hamster,” she replied. + Cheered up by their text exchange, Steph posted screenshots of her dad’s updates that were retweeted more than 100,000 times and earned about 500,000 likes from Twitter users who fell in love with her panicked Dan’s search efforts — via: Steph Veerman / Twitter ••• @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews . . . #caring #heartwarming #positivepsychology #globalpositivenews #news #tanksgoodnews #Positivenews #positivenergy #positivity #onemillionactsofgood #kindness #kindnessmatters #randomactsofkindness #actsofkindness #hamsters #hamsterpet #hamsterlove #cutepet #cutepets #fatherdaughter #fatherdaughtertime #fatherdaughtergoals #missingpet #lawyerlife #lawyer #hamsterlife #searchandrescue
