Rihanna Reveals Why She Turned Down the Super Bowl
Last year, Rihanna famously turned down the Super Bowl Halftime Show, one of the most watched musical extravaganzas in the world. In a recent interview, she revealed the real reason she turned down the opportunity, citing solidarity with Colin Kaepernick. The former NFL quarterback and activist made headlines in 2017, when he refused to stand for the national anthem, choosing to kneel in order to protest police brutality and systemic racism in the United States.
Inspired by his actions, Rihanna turned down the event without a second thought. “I couldn’t dare do that,” she shared in an interview. “For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sell-out. I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.”

But apparently, there has been a misunderstanding about exactly what that issue is. We won’t give it away, but you can watch the video, below, to find out the funny and very touching message.

Willow Smith Busks in London Underground
Leave it to Prada to be the brainchild behind one of the most unique activations we’ve seen in a long time. Willow Smith has resurrected the lost art of busking (playing music in public spaces for voluntary donations) in the London Underground. This unexpected – and unannounced – moment was engineered to promote Prada’s ‘Linea Rossa’ Fall/Winter 2019 collection.
Passengers along the Central Line were treated to Smith’s surprise performance, during which she entertained with only with a guitar and her beautiful voice. As for what made the moment even more memorable? That hot-pink puffa from the collection.
