"We couldn’t care less about how many followers you have, and we’re super embarrassed for you when you tell us." - Joe Nicchi
It’s not everyday that soft serve manages to stir up a debate in the Savoir Flair office, but today is that day as people and leading publications worldwide are hailing Joe Nicchi – not the actor, but the owner of a California-based ice cream truck called CVT Soft Serve – a hero for charging influencers double the price for his dairy concoctions.
A not-so-deep dive into his Instagram account revealed that he frequently uses the hashtag #InfluencersAreGross and (rather fairly) points out that he charges only $4 a pop. Oh, and he’s also seemingly allergic to the word “exposure” after receiving a request to comp 300 servings for an event in exchange for – you guessed it – exposure. “I’m not really 100 percent sure what they actually do, and their followers, likes, and comments can all be purchased, so I have trouble looking at them as being reputable,” said Nicchi in an interview with People magazine.
Let the debate begin.
