Ellen DeGeneres Opens Up About Sexual Abuse

Opening up to David Letterman on the new season of his Netflix show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, an emotional Ellen DeGeneres revealed that she had been sexually abused by her late stepfather when she was only 15 years old.

Ellen’s mother, Betty DeGeneres – who has made several appearances on her daytime talk show – released a public statement saying, “I know that one of the hardest things to do is speak up after being sexually abused. I love my daughter, and I wish I had the capacity to listen to her when she told me what happened. I live with that regret, and I wouldn’t want that for any parent.”

Rihanna Corrects Us Amidst Making Fashion History

Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?” song suddenly seems a lot more relevant in light of a startling new revelation: we’ve all been saying the pop icon’s name wrong all along. She introduced herself as “Re-anna” – not “Re-ah-nah” – in a video while promoting the launch of her fashion label Fenty in Paris. Winning rave reviews for her debut collection, Rihanna is now the first black woman to helm a fashion house at luxury group LVMH.

Karl Lagerfeld x Olivia Palermo to Pre-Launch in Dubai

Perennial style icon Olivia Palermo has partnered up with the late Karl Lagerfeld’s eponymous label for a 24-piece capsule collection entitled ‘Karl Lagerfeld Styled by Olivia Palermo’. Marrying his Parisian aesthetic with her take on New York street style, it comprises ready-to-wear like tuxedo jackets and logo’s sweatshirts along with five pieces that Palermo has co-designed herself. The good news here is that, while the collection will drop worldwide on June 26, it will pre-launch at the Karl Lagerfeld flagship boutique in The Dubai Mall on June 12.

Luxury Fashion Giants to Celebrate Karl Lagerfeld

In more Karl Lagerfeld-related news, luxury fashion house Chanel, Fendi, and Karl Lagerfeld will jointly host a memorial celebration for the legendary designer who passed away earlier this year. This unique event will pay tribute to the artist’s legacy through a tapestry of videos of him throughout his life interwoven with interviews with many of the people whom he inspired and who worked with him in so many fields.

Reflecting Lagerfeld’s unprecedented creativity – which expanded beyond fashion to include design, photography, publishing, illustration, and architecture – the celebration will be accented by the contributions of actors, musicians, and dancers whose work he admired, who were his friends, and who will interpret some of the music and literature that he loved. The tribute will be conceived, directed, and designed by acclaimed director Robert Carsen, and will take place at the Grand Palais in Paris on June 20.

Chiara Ferragni Partners Up with Lancôme

Italian fashion influencer Chiara Ferragni has joined forces with beauty bigwig Lancôme to launch her first make-up capsule collection. Entitled ‘Lancôme x Chiara Ferragni’, it features three exclusive shades of Lancôme’s ‘L’Absolu Mademoiselle Shine’ lipstick, a trio of the ‘L’Absolu Lacquer’, and the ‘Hypnôse Drama’ mascara – all accented with Ferragni’s signature winking eye motif on the packaging, of course.

The hero product is the adorable ‘Flirting Palette’ that features four lipstick shades, four eyeshadows, three shimmering highlighters, a rosy blush, and a lip gloss. The makeup collection will launch globally later this month.

Chloé Radio Launches New Season

Inviting women who inspire French fashion house Chloé to share their views – whether personal insights or towards the wider world – is the new season of Chloé Radio, which launched over the weekend. Led by Chloé creative director Natacha Ramsay Levi, the podcast features guest speakers Charlotte Casiraghi, Camelia Jordana, Camille Bidault Waddington, Elodie Bouchez, Alexia Niedzielski, Sigrid Bouaziz, Jo Ellison, and Liya Kebede.

Each 20-minute interview delves into subjects ranging from life-changing experiences to the meaning of femininity today, with confidence, freedom, seduction, elegance, and self-expression serving as key themes. You can listen to them in French or English here.
