Time 100 Honors Three Prominent Names in Fashion
The annual Time 100 list – which honors the most influential people of the year – has been released, and some of fashion’s biggest names have snagged a coveted spot. Pierpaolo Piccioli, who turned Valentino into one of fashion’s most exciting houses, was named by actress Frances McDormand in praise of his visionary skills. Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller was nominated by actress Julianne Moore for one especially iconic dress. In her nomination, Moore wrote, “Clare’s simple wedding gown for Meghan Markle was… a reflection of the lovely and modern young woman who just happens to be a 21st century princess.” Finally, the legendary makeup artist and billionaire beauty mogul, Pat McGrath, was honored by former supermodel Beverly Johnson, due to her enduring influence over both the beauty and fashion realms. You can view the complete Time 100 list here.
Beyoncé Had a Big Week
In addition to marking the one-year anniversary of her headlining show at Coachella with a new Netflix documentary film chronicling the making of her now-legendary performance called Homecoming, Beyoncé also dropped a surprise 40-song live album. Not only did her documentary astonish with its behind-the-scenes footage, which revealed the immense scope and vision of her #Beychella theatrics (it was an 8-month labor of love), but fans reveled in the double-dose of Beyoncé with enthusiasm equal to that of her previous surprise drops. In a big win for the Middle East, Beyoncé appears on the album artwork clutching a stunning bejeweled headpiece created for her by Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran.
Oh, but that’s not all. Variety reported that Netflix has also inked a $60 million three-project deal with Queen Bey. There’s no word yet on what those projects entail, but suffice to say we can’t wait to see what comes of this epic partnership.
Adele Announces Split from Husband Simon Konecki
Representatives of the singer and pop sensation, Adele, announced this week that she would be splitting from her husband, Simon Konecki. Adele met Konecki, a water charity executive, in 2011 and the two have been together ever since. However, they kept their relationship very private, and only announced their married status in 2017 when Adele accepted the Grammy for Album of the Year.
“They are committed to raising their son together lovingly,” her representative’s statement read. “As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.” However, that didn’t stop fans online from becoming gleeful about the split, claiming that it served to heighten their expectations of an “epic break-up album”. One user summed up the inappropriate nature of such speculation.
Perhaps it’s the former single mom in me, but all these celebratory tweets about Adele’s divorce — “a new album!” — makes me bone weary. All I want for her and her child right now is a quiet patch of the world where no one is excited for her sadness.

Notre Dame Cathedral Caught in Terrible Blaze
Shocking images poured in from all corners of the Internet as Notre Dame Cathedral – an iconic 850-year-old structure in Paris – was engulfed in flames. The Cathedral’s spire, which was currently under renovation, was the main area affected, as was its 13th-century oak roof.
Although the blaze didn’t affect the entire structure, the damage was serious. Instantly, donations came pouring in, most notably from French billionaires, Kering’s François-Henri Pinault, who pledged €100 million toward repair, and LVMH‘s Bernard Arnaut, who pledged €200 million. Collectively, over €1 billion has been donated since the devastating fire took place, citing many to criticize that the donations could have been made to France’s poor, particularly in the wake of the ‘Yellow Vests’ protests and an alarming 21% unemployment rate.
Madonna Reinvents Herself, Again
From party girl to exhibitionist to cowgirl, Madonna is the pioneer of pop culture reinvention. At 54 years old, she shows no signs of slowing down. With the eminent release of a new album, titled, Madame X, a new single dropped which saw Madonna transforming herself into the album’s titular character, a secret agent traveling the world.
This new persona provides infinite means for Madonna to experiment with her identity. Madonna described her new character saying, “She is a cha cha instructor. A professor. A head of state. A housekeeper. An equestrian. A prisoner. A student. A teacher. A nun. A cabaret singer. A saint. A prostitute.” Check out her first single, Medellín, featuring Maluma, below.
Loewe's 'Paula's Boutique' Launches on Net-a-Porter

Now in its third season of collaboration, Loewe has launched its ‘Paula’s Ibiza’ collection exclusively on Net-a-Porter. There are 64 pieces to choose from – much more elaborate than your typical capsule collab – which span archival prints, accessories, shoes, bags, and ready-to-wear.
