Kim Kardashian West Embarks on a New Career

When it comes to Kim Kardashian West news, it takes a lot to shock us. However, in a recent interview, she managed to put our jaws on the ground with the announcement of a strategic career pivot. While the influential celebrity shows no signs of abandoning her business as the purveyor of all things beauty, she has decided to make good with her interest in activism by becoming a lawyer.

After playing an instrumental role in the release of Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old who had been in prison since 1996 for a non-violent offense, Kardashian West reportedly woke up to the realization of her own influence and the benefit she could bring to the world when armed with more knowledge. It was sitting among top lawyers in the Roosevelt Room of the White House that made her consider she could do more if she knew more, she said in an interview.

Since that moment, Kardashian West has been putting in real hours towards her law degree, logging 18 hours a week of supervised study. Over the summer, Kardashian will take a smaller version of the bar exam, administered by the state of California. And if she passes, she will be given the green light to study for three more years in order to take the real bar exam in 2022.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Finalize Divorce

After a drawn-out legal battle, with plenty of he-said-she-said to keep the tabloid rumors fueled, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have (finally) finalized their divorce. The couple first split in 2016 after two years of marriage amid allegations that Pitt’s drinking problems had negatively impacted his relationship with Jolie and their children.

Oprah and Prince Harry Partner on Mental Health Initiative

After Prince Harry spoke about his own struggles with mental health in 2018 on a podcast with The Telegraph reporter Bryony Gordon, he has been credited with elevating awareness of mental health issues in the UK and beyond ever since. With the aid of Invictus Games – which gave agency back to injured or ailing service personnel and veterans by having them take part in sports such as wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball – the prince has been credited with improving the mental health of those in need. He is now at the forefront of a new mental health initiative, which he launched in partnership with Oprah Winfrey. The initiative takes form as a documentary series that launches on Apple in 2020, and will address topics of mental wellness.

In a statement to the press, Prince Harry shared, “I truly believe that good mental health – mental fitness – is the key to powerful leadership, productive communities and a purpose-driven self. It is a huge responsibility to get this right as we bring you the facts, the science and the awareness of a subject that is so relevant during these times. Our hope is that this series will be positive, enlightening and inclusive – sharing global stories of unparalleled human spirit fighting back from the darkest places, and the opportunity for us to understand ourselves and those around us better. I am incredibly proud to be working alongside Oprah on this vital series.”

We are excited to announce that The Duke of Sussex and Oprah Winfrey are partners, co-creators and executive producers on their forthcoming mental health series launching on Apple in 2020. The pair have been developing the series for several months and are looking forward to sharing such an important project on this global platform. The dynamic multi-part documentary series will focus on both mental illness and mental wellness, inspiring viewers to have an honest conversation about the challenges each of us faces, and how to equip ourselves with the tools to not simply survive, but to thrive. This commitment builds on The Duke of Sussex’s long-standing work on issues and initiatives regarding mental health, where he has candidly shared personal experience and advocated for those who silently suffer, empowering them to get the help and support they deserve. His Royal Highness has spent many years working with communities throughout the UK and young people across the Commonwealth to break the stigma surrounding mental illness and broaden the conversation of mental wellness to accelerate change for a more compassionate, connected and positive society. Quote from HRH: “I truly believe that good mental health – mental fitness – is the key to powerful leadership, productive communities and a purpose-driven self.

Amber Heard Alleges Horrific Abuse by Johnny Depp

After Amber Heard divorced Johnny Depp in 2017, alleging horrific abuse, she was awarded a $7 million settlement, which she promptly donated to charity, citing a desire not to benefit financially from their marriage. Depp, who has struggled financially due to out-of-control spending habits, came forward with a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Heard after she detailed the horrific abuse she experienced at his hands in a 2018 op-ed for The Washington Post.

Since the defamation lawsuit has gone forward, sickening details have emerged as to the abuse she suffered, including physical assault and threats against her life. Heard has requested that the defamation lawsuit be thrown out of court. From everyone’s favorite heartthrob to alleged abuser, something is seriously rotten in the state of Depp.

Rihanna Might be Launching Skincare Line

Is there anything Rihanna can’t do? She just starred in a short film opposite Donald Glover, which recently aired at Coachella and can be found streaming on Amazon Prime. Her Fenty Beauty brand has disrupted the beauty industry at large, while her size-inclusive lingerie range has prompted other lingerie companies to follow suit. She is a mega popstar with a new album on the horizon, and she’s in talks with LVMH to launch her own luxury ready-to-wear brand.

Adding to this ever-growing list of impressive responsibilities is the possibility of Rihanna launching a skincare line. Last week, she reportedly filed a trademark for Fenty Skin, which covers “medicated and non-medicated skincare, soap, body care, and personal care products (excluding color cosmetics, perfume, and other fragrance-only products), and related accessories such as kits, tools, and applicators”. It’s Rihanna’s world, we’re just living in it – and you’ll hear no complaints from us on that front.

Presenters at the event included Julia Stiles, Arianna Huffington, and Gloria Steinem, while the topic of conversation mainly focused on the strength of women. Award recipients include Katy Perry (for her philanthropic work), Nadi Murad (an activist fighting for survivors of genocide and sexual violence), and Susan Burton (founder of A New Way of Life, which provides employment opportunities, housing, and support to people struggling to rebuild their lives after incarceration).
