Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Join Instagram
With so much tabloid drama surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, they’ve decided to wrestle back control of their own narrative. In less than a week of joining Instagram, the royal duo has not only drummed up over four million followers – a follow rate that shatters world records, according to Guinness World Records – but they have also used the social media platform to elevate the philanthropic causes that they’re involved in.
From working with Heads Together (which helps foster awareness of mental health issues in young people) to requesting that fans donate to charity in lieu of sending baby gifts, the two are putting a new spin on the term “power couple” with powerful, socially conscious messages.

The Duke of Sussex attends the ‘Our Planet’ premiere at the Natural History Museum with The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Cambridge, lending their joint support for the protection of our environment. As president of @africanparksnetwork, The Duke of Sussex continues to advocate for the communities and wildlife that coexist in some of the most vulnerable environments around the world. Be it human wildlife conflict or natural disasters, these communities (park rangers, school children, families) are on the frontline of conservation and we must do more to help them as we also work to safeguard the animals and landscapes that are in critical danger. A few recent photos that look back on: Prince Harry’s long time commitment to this cause as well as a glimpse into the work he and The Duchess of Sussex did in 2017. Their Royal Highnesses travelled to Botswana to assist Dr. Mike Chase of Elephants Without Borders in equipping a bull elephant with a satellite collar. Approximately 100 elephants are poached/killed every day for their ivory tusks. Using satellite technology allows conservationists to track their critical migratory patterns and to protect them and the local communities from human wildlife conflict. The elephant pictured was sedated for just 10 minutes before he was up and back with his herd. Tracking his movements has allowed conservationists to better protect him and other elephants and ensure heightened protection for these beautiful creatures moving forward. Credit: Image 1 PA
Victoria's Secret Announces New Angels
In the wake of much controversy, dozens of store closures, and flagging profits, the Victoria’s Secret runway show is still a go as the star-studded event tends to account for a significant portion of the company’s annual sales. Barbara Palvin and Alexina Graham were recently announced as the new Victoria Secret Angels, but fans complained that they only served to contribute to the overall lack of diversity in this line-up.
However, the announcement of Leomie Anderson as the latest Angel is cause for celebration. Not only is she a stunning model, but she’s also an outspoken activist who founded LAPP (Leomie Anderson the Project the Purpose), a platform for young women to express their political views. Beauty, brains, and diversity? More of that, please.
Kourtney Kardashian Experiences Pushback on Poosh
Kourtney Kardashian has been teasing the coming of Poosh, her new lifestyle website, for months. It debuted last week, and was instantly panned. The website, which supposedly focuses on holistic health and wellness, has been ridiculed for its distinct lack of body positivity.
Instead, it focuses solely on products with extremely high price points, is poorly written (the About page contains multiple misspellings), and dishes out advice without the backing of any expert-sourced facts. The name, which is eerily similar to Gwyneth Paltrow’s goop, has also been criticized. And if all that wasn’t enough, her sponsored posts fail to mention that they’re sponsored. This take on Twitter echoes our sentiments.
So I’m reading Poosh (?!), Kourtney Kardashian’s new lifestyle website, for a piece I’m writing, and I just need everyone to understand my feelings about her “signature salad.”
This is not a salad. Thank you for your time. pic.twitter.com/2l1rI73E50

Elie Saab is Tapped to be the First Dubai Star
You’ve no doubt heard of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which is littered with the stars and handprints of celebrities like Tom Hanks, Jennifer Lawrence, and Oprah Winfrey. Well, what if we told you Dubai was getting its own version? In October 2019, Downtown Dubai will host Dubai Stars, an attraction that will feature the names of the biggest personalities in the Arab world.
Eventually, Dubai Stars will play host to 10,000 commemorative ‘stars’ and, to the delight of the fashion world, the first person to be honored is esteemed Lebanese designer Elie Saab. On the heels of the announcement of his new branded hotel in Dubai, created with Emaar Properties, Saab will be the first of many to see his name on the Dubai Stars walk.
Madiyah Al Sharqi Pop-Up Comes to Dubai
For the first time ever, designer Madiyah Al Sharqi’s pop-up has landed at Dubai Design District (d3). The event launched with a dinner on March 27, which included international model Elsa Hosk as well as a veritable who’s who of regional fashion acolytes who were there to fête the brand in style. The exclusive pop-up features Madiyah Al Sharqi’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection which pays tribute to First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and the iconic wardrobe she wore on her famed trip to India in 1962.
In a statement to the press, Al Sharqi shared her appreciation of the country that inspired her collection, saying, “I was amazed by all the different cultures, landscapes and their warm hospitality. We’ve always had Indian influences in the UAE but I discovered that India was much more than what I thought. Visiting India really is a dream, getting familiar with and admiring the country’s rich culture, history and architecture.”
Visit the Madiyah Al Sharqi pop-up at d3 from now until April 27 to experience the collection in person.
Tommy Hilfiger Collaborates with Coca-Cola
Tommy Hilfiger collaborated with Coca-Cola in 1986, only one year after launching his eponymous American sportswear brand. At the time, he had little idea that he was contributing to an iconic collection in the making. Now, the designer is revisiting the 1986 Coca-Cola collection for his ‘Tommy Jeans’ line, with a brand new capsule collection that promises to be worthy of a pop art hall of fame.
The youthful, vibrant campaign for the Tommy Jeans x Coca Cola collaboration features a diverse line-up of models, as well as instantly collectible pieces that feature the soda brand’s vintage advertisements. You can find the capsule collection online or in select Tommy Jeans stores worldwide.
