Celebrities Caught in College Admissions Scandal
What consists of a bribery, lies, the exchange of exorbitant amounts of money, and a rich crowd getting caught in a massive scandal? No, it isn’t the gripping plot line of a new Lifetime movie, but the very real-life predicament that many members of the upper-class have found themselves in – Hollywood’s elite included.
In what is reportedly the biggest case of college admissions fraud, a record number of parents have been accused of bribing and scamming their kids into prestigious schools like Yale and Stanford. At the head of the operation, college admissions consultant Rick Singer has been charged with numerous felonies, while actors Felicity Huffman and Lori Laughlin have been charged for paying him hundreds of thousands of dollars for his services. Laughlin, who was released on $1 million in bond, might be going from Full House to the big house – the actress will face charges in Boston Federal Court later this month.
Louis Vuitton Cuts Ties with Michael Jackson
When Leaving Neverland came out, it caused many fans to take a hard look at Michael Jackson and the allegations that surrounded him for the majority of his life. And in the wake of such accusations, public figures have started dropping their support for the King of Pop, designer Virgil Abloh included.
Firmly taking a stance against the alleged horrific behavior that came to light in the HBO docuseries, Louis Vuitton‘s creative director recently pulled pieces that commemorated Jackson from its Fall/Winter 2019 menswear collection. In a statement regarding the decision, Abloh compassionately expressed, “I am aware that in the light of the documentary the show has caused emotional reactions. I strictly condemn any form of child abuse, violence or infringement against any human rights.”
Julie de Libran Exits Sonia Rykiel
Julie de Libran might’ve joined Parisian brand Sonia Rykiel in what appeared to be an easy, happy merging. However, she is not leaving that way. After five years with the label and a contract that extended into 2020, the designer’s sudden exit has the fashion world rife with speculations as to what really happened.
Spokespeople for the brand express that de Libran left willingly, though they were not able to provide evidence of her resignation. Strangely enough, on the other side of the spectrum, the mood is very different. Harshly citing internal disputes, de Libran told Business of Fashion, “They weren’t respecting my contract and asked me to go on Monday. I found myself with my boxes in the street: the American way.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Pack Their Bags
Splitting up is hard to do, and this might be the reason why Kensington Palace has been keeping very mum about the royal moves that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been making – until now. In preparation for the birth of their first child due in April, the newlyweds will officially be taking up residence at Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate, in addition to separating their office space from that of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
After months of speculation of bad blood between Markle and Middleton, this move has done nothing more than spark more rumors about a possible feud between the two duchesses. And though many might love to pit one powerful woman against another, we’re not ones to fall prey to mere hearsay.

By M.A.R.Y. Makes Debut in Dubai
Bespoke and made in the UAE, By M.A.R.Y. is the brainchild of designer Marie Hosatte as a tribute to the continent that she considers her homeland: Africa. Cheerfully vibrant and brimming with prints, the inaugural Spring/Summer 2019 collection gives a taste of Hosatte’s vision, which fuses her African upbringing and French heritage.
But quality and aesthetics aside, the garments were created for a good cause. With the sale of every item, a donation of AED 50 will be made towards educational enrichment of those at the Grand-Bassam Girls National Orphanage in Ivory Coast. What’s not to love about a brand that looks good and does good?
Kim Kardashian Accused of Copying Naomi Campbell
They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but at what point does imitation turn into downright copying? The fashion sleuths behind @DietPrada recently called out Kim Kardashian for following in Naomi Campbell sartorial footsteps a little too literally, producing not one, not two, but multiple instances where the reality star copied the supermodel’s style. While some may argue that nothing’s new in fashion anymore, it can’t be a coincidence that this keeps happening, can it?
