Throughout history, there have been many female ensembles that have inspired the world, and last night’s Grammys gave us a power group like no other. Introduced by host Alicia Keys as “magnificent goddesses”, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, and Jada Pinkett Smith were joined by former First Lady Michelle Obama. The surprise appearance stunned the audience, and the internet rejoiced in the female empowerment oozing from the stage.
Coming together in a heartfelt moment to celebrate the legacy of Motown, each one of them spoke individually about what music meant to her – with a Beyoncé reference to boot. The now-iconic assembly of exemplary women, standing arm in arm, might’ve been the most stylish union of the awards season. Obama in a custom Sachin & Babi suit, Lady Gaga in Celine, Lopez in couture Ralph & Russo, and Pinkett Smith in vintage Roberto Cavalli – suffice to say, showing up for your girls has never looked so glam. With a powerful combination like that, we can’t help but think: Who run the world? Girls.
