Raf Simons Exits Calvin Klein

After months of reports that Raf Simons and executives at Calvin Klein’s parent company PVH were butting heads, it was confirmed this week that the designer was heading for the exit with a year still left on his $48 million contract. According to insiders, PVH was unhappy with Simons’ spending and inability to turn a profit – with the brand’s core denim line in particular underperforming – while he was unhappy with the promise of full creative control that was undermined by the parent company. However, the company released a statement calling the split “amicable”. Due to the timing of Simons’ departure, Calvin Klein has opted not to show at New York Fashion Week in February.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Tie the Knot

Popstar Miley Cyrus and actor Liam Hemsworth – who first met in 2009 when they filmed The Last Song together – have been engaged since 2012. For the past year, entertainment headlines have constantly crowed that the two had gotten secretly hitched, but it turns out, they were wrong. Cyrus and Hemsworth didn’t officially tie the knot until this week, which the two revealed via Instagram. A small private ceremony that looked to be held at Cyrus’ home in Malibu set the background for the special occasion, while the bride was radiant in an elegant white Vivienne Westwood gown.

Ariana Grande Cancels NYE Show

After a rocky year in which she dealt with the death of her longtime friend and former partner Mac Miller as well as a very public relationship, engagement, and break-up with comedian Pete Davidson, Ariana Grande needs a break. A huge New Year’s Eve performance in Las Vegas, which would’ve been her first performance since separating from Davidson, was cancelled by the singer due to health concerns. Sources close to Grande say that she has been suffering from bronchitis and too ill to even rehearse for the show.

Kim Kardashian Sparks Controversy over Red Lipstick

There’s a term called “mommy-shaming” that has arisen in the era of social media, referring to when commenters gang up on mothers and call out what they perceive to be bad parenting. It is frequently pointed at high-profile celebrity mothers, like Kim Kardashian, who recently weathered a backlash on social media for her decision to allow her five-year-old daughter North West to wear bright red lipstick for a Christmas gathering.

Many were concerned that North was conforming to beauty standards at such a young age and upset that the lip shade was produced by Kardashian herself, which was seen as the mother using her daughter to promote sales of the product. The reality star defended her daughter, saying, “She picked it! It was a special occasion!”

Naomi Campbell Lands First Beauty Campaign

It sounds patently absurd that Naomi Campbell – one of the world’s most renowned supermodels – is only now landing her very first beauty campaign at the age of 48, but that is exactly what happened this week as she was tapped by NARS to be the new face of the brand. “Naomi is a living icon and brings such strong personality to the camera. She and I are like family. I have known her since the very beginning of her career. From the start, I have admired her, her beauty, and her style,” shared François Nars, who also photographed the model for the campaign.
