Birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and other milestones of life are best celebrated with family, and the royals – just like us – follow this wholeheartedly. Often commemorating special occasions with posed photographs, the monarchy rarely strays from tradition, but as times are changing, it is keeping up. In what came as a complete surprise to the public, the royal family released not one, but two portraits to mark Prince Charles’ 70th birthday. In addition to the formal image, a more candid counterpart was also unveiled, showing everyone laughing and looking completely relaxed – a rare treat.
Nestled in the garden of Clarence House, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall were joined by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their beaming children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis alongside a smiling Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The family affair – captured in September prior to Meghan Markle’s pregnancy announcement – showed the pure joy of a family coming together to celebrate a loved one. If this is a sign of things to come, we can’t wait to see more candid photos of this captivating crew.
