If there’s one thing that all Savoir Flair editors have in common, it’s wanderlust to the nth degree. This year alone, we’ve collectively explored the likes of London, Lausanne, Los Angeles, Bangkok, Kathmandu, Marrakech, and the Maldives – all with a little help from an Instagram account by the name of @wearetravelgirls along the way. Now before you take a quick glance at its direction and dismiss it as just another series of pretty pictures worth filing under #travelinspo, hear us out.

The account actually belongs to We Are Travel Girls, a global travel community created to “inspire, connect, educate, and empower female travelers around the world”. Founded by Becky van Dijk and Vanessa Rivers in 2016, it places an emphasis on connecting with like-minded women, fueling a sense of adventure, and – most importantly – sharing a passion for travel with others. The company does this by featuring some of the best travel bloggers from around the world alongside everyday travelers who have great travel tips and stories, but not their own blog.

It’s how we’ve discovered where to enjoy the best sunset views in Mykonos, why the Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest is worth a visit, what makes Mount Ruapehu in New Zealand so special, how to beat the crowds at Tianmen Mountain in China, and more – all through the captions of the company’s Instagram account. Scroll through to discover more like practical tips like these (as well as some gorgeous visuals), just as you get antsy for the next big holiday weekend in November.

Always make sure to look up!⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Photo by Andreia @theworldatmyfeet_⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Traveller Tip From Andreia ↠ With only 24h in Istanbul, I still managed to visit the Blue Mosque twice. I visited in the early hours of the day, to get an empty courtyard and access to the inside without queues and I came back at dusk to see the outside of the Mosque at a different light. It’s worth it! But look out for the praying times before you visit! Muslims pray 5 times a day and the Mosque closes to visitors for about 30 minutes each time. ⠀ Also make sure to dress appropriately by covering shoulders, knees and head. If you don’t have a scarf, they lend a pretty blue one at the entrance. When you are in, sit on the floor, look up and enjoy the beautiful peacefulness.⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Submit your photos and travel tips for a feature on our Instagram on WeAreTravelGirls.com/Photo-Submission/ ⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ #wearetravelgirls #istanbul #turkey #bluemosque⠀

Spirited away by Jiufen, Taiwan. ⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Photo by Jia Hui @jiahui.lee⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Traveller Tip ↠ Jiufen is a mysterious mountain town that is located 1-2 hours away from Taipei. This town is said to have inspired one of the best Japanese animation movies, Spirited Away. The town’s iconic structure is the Ah Mei Tea House, where it is said to resemble the bathhouse of the character, witch Yubaba in the movie. During the Qing dynasty, Jiufen was an isolated village populated by just nine families. When shipments arrived from town, the people in the village would request for “nine portions”. Hence, the name Jiufen. This historical town is honestly the highlight of my trip and definitely a must-see destination when in Taiwan!⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Submit your photos and travel tips for a feature on our Instagram on WeAreTravelGirls.com/Photo-Submission/ ⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ #wearetravelgirls #travelgirls #travelblogger #travelcommunity #femaletravel #femaletraveller #traveltheworld #womenintravel

Hiking to the summit of Mount Ruapehu, New Zealand ⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Photo by Sabrina Brett @moonhoneytravelers⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Traveller Tip From Sabrina ↠ Hiking to Mount Ruapehu’s Crater Lake in New Zealand is an experience I’ll never forget. Mount Ruapehu is an active volcano on the North Island in Tongariro National Park. Most travelers come to the National Park to hike the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing. But if you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous and less trafficked, consider hiking to the summit of Mount Ruapehu. There are actually no marked trails to the summit, or to the Crater Lake. But in late summer, it’s possible to locate an established footpath. Only attempt this hike on a clear day with a buddy.⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Submit your photos and travel tips for a feature on our Instagram on WeAreTravelGirls.com/Photo-Submission/ ⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ #wearetravelgirls #travelgirls #travelcommunity #femaletravel #mountruapehu #newzealand #hiking

Dc-3 Plane Wreckage, Iceland ⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Photo by Amanda @amandatwine⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Traveller Tip ↠ The DC-3 Plane wreckage on the shore of Iceland’s Sólheimasandur Beach needs no introduction! It’s been the subject of many Instagram shots. But what a lot of people don’t know is that it is a 45 minute to 1 hour hike to get to the wreckage site. Many people arrive unprepared for the elements (it get very windy) and end up turning back. It’s also very popular, with hundreds of tourists wandering around the wreckage, making it difficult to get a good photo. I would recommend getting there at sunrise to have the place all to yourself.⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Submit your photos and travel tips for a feature on our Instagram on WeAreTravelGirls.com/Photo-Submission/ ⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ #wearetravelgirls #travelcommunity #femaletravel #Sólheimasandur #iceland #dc3

Have you been to Poland? ⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Photo by Sol @themomentbehind⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Traveller Tip From Sol ↠ Poland is a great destination for a city break and Warsaw shouldn’t be overlooked. Many people recommend visiting Krakow, which is 2 hour train ride from Warsaw, but Poland’s capital has a lot to offer! It has a beautiful and colourful old town which is now UNESCO World Heritage site and fully reconstructed after the war. Live street music fills the air as people enjoy veranda dinners and drinks. The city harbours a rich history you can learn about in various walking tours and later rejoice in delicious food and drink, all with a very affordable price tag!⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Submit your photos and travel tips for a feature on our Instagram on WeAreTravelGirls.com/Photo-Submission/ ⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ #wearetravelgirls #poland #warsaw⠀

Have you been to Egypt? If not should definitely add it to your travel list for 2019! Perhaps we should do a @travelgirlsgetaways trip there?! ⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Photo by Samantha @callmeadventurous⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Traveller Tip From Samantha ↠ As a solo female traveler to Egypt, I was told by so many people to be afraid for my safety. But after going there and experiencing it myself, I can confidently say that I felt extremely safe and am so happy I didn’t let other people’s fears influence my journey. Egypt is a beautiful country, rich with history and friendly people. Obviously, there will be some culture shock when you arrive, but if you let yourself relax and enjoy the ride, you’ll see some of the most beautiful temples and sights you’ve ever experienced.⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ Submit your photos and travel tips for a feature on our Instagram on WeAreTravelGirls.com/Photo-Submission/ ⠀ ✧✧✧✧✧⠀ #wearetravelgirls #egypt #pyramids #abusimbel #visitegypt
