Kourtney Kardashian Splits with Younes Bendjima
This week, Kourtney Kardashian split with her boyfriend Younes Bendjima after he was spotted by TMZ on vacation snuggling up to another woman. Often viewed as the most level-headed of the Kardashian clan, Kourtney was all smiles only a day after the split, perhaps due in part to getting rid of a partner who callously body-shamed her on a bikini picture she posted to Instagram only a few weeks prior by saying, “That’s what you need to show to get likes?” Good riddance.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's Divorce Grows More Contentious
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were together for 12 years before things imploded in an incredibly dramatic way – as one might expect given the nature of their relationship and their status as two of Hollywood’s most esteemed actors. Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 after alleging that Pitt engaged in abusive behavior towards their son Maddox while intoxicated aboard the family jet. Pitt has since cleaned up his act and sobered up considerably, but the damage was already done. He has reportedly given $1.3 million to Jolie over the past two years, while Jolie has been fighting for sole custody of their sizable brood.
Last week, however, Jolie alleged that Pitt has paid “no meaningful child support” and intends to file a request for a court order (RFO) to formalize the support request. In the meantime, Pitt’s lawyer has come forward, stating that Jolie’s filing is “a thinly veiled effort to manipulate media coverage” and revealing that Pitt loaned Jolie $8 million to help her purchase her current home in addition to the $1.3 million in child support. This case of he-said-she-said is making our heads spin.
Kathleen Turner Is the Queen of Shade in No-Holds Barred Interview
Remember Quincy Jones’ unhinged interview in February? It seems that when celebrities arrive at a certain age, they no longer care about the opinions of others. This sentiment holds true for Kathleen Turner’s recent no-holds-barred interview with Vulture in which she reveals her true feelings about her male co-stars, Donald Trump, and even the cast of Friends. Turner is a famous actress of both stage and screen, with some of her most notable roles being Francis Ford Coppola’s Peggy Sue Got Married, War of the Roses, The Jewel of the Nile, and the one that everyone knows her best for: the voice of Jessica Rabbit in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
In the interview, she delivered candid quotes such as, “Working with Burt Reynolds was terrible. The first day Burt came in, he made me cry. He said something about not taking second place to a woman. His behavior was shocking. It never occurred to me that I wasn’t someone’s equal.” She went on to throw massive shade at former rivals like Elizabeth Taylor, talk about Trump’s “creepy” handshake, and spill about her unpleasant experience working with the cast of Friends. You can read the entire (extremely entertaining) interview here.
Ellie Goulding is Getting Hitched
This is the summer of celebrity engagements! First it was Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson, then Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin, then Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, and now Ellie Goulding has revealed her engagement to Caspar Jopling. The well-connected Jopling is a brainy guy and an art dealer at Sotheby’s. The two have been dating for the past 18 months, making this one of the longest relationships of the quickly-engaged celebrity couples of Summer 2018.
France Makes Catcalling Illegal
After an absolutely heinous video of a man harassing a young female architecture student on the street and then violently slapping her in an appalling public confrontation went viral, the French government has gone into overdrive. French lawmakers set out to investigate the state of street harassment in the country, and immediately outlawed the behavior.
Sexual misconduct and catcalling on the street and public transportation are now prohibited in France, and violators will experience on-the-spot fines of up to €750. This is definitely a step in the right direction, and hopefully acts as a strong deterrent to would-be harassers.
