Her Highness Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed Al Maktoum has given birth to a baby girl.
The daughter of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum gave her father, the ruler of Dubai and Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, one more thing to smile about this week when she welcomed her new daughter to the world. Sheikh Mohammed recently enjoyed his 69th birthday, so it has been a double week of celebrations following the July 17 birth.
The news was shared with the public by Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Instagram, revealing the name as Salama bint Saeed bin Dalmook Al Maktoum on a pink background with floral decorations.
She took the time to congratulate her sister in the caption for her 280.1k followers, using the heart eyes and heart emoji to demonstrate how in love she is with the bundle of joy already. Followers responded with their messages of congratulations for the Dubai Royal Family, and considering how privately Sheikha Hessa has led her life up until now, it’s not likely we’ll get a glimpse of the baby any time soon.
As Sheikha Hessa does not subscribe to social media herself, other UAE royals, including Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, shared the announcement with the world.
Salama has a rather special meaning too; used for both boys and girls, it has Quranic roots and refers to “flawlessness” and “security.” With the family she has been born into, clearly this little girl will have no trouble living up to her powerful name.
