If you thought the group shot at your most recent family event was a 10 out of 10, the chances are you’ll have to up the ante after poring over Prince Louis’s official christening photos.
The 12-week-old appears in new images released by Kensington Palace, showing how the British royals celebrated his baptism on July 9. The royal baby wore a traditional robe, which is a replica of Queen Victoria’s famous item that has been worn by 62 royal babies since 1841. It was originally made by Janet Sutherland but was put into retirement in 2004 when it was decided it had become too fragile to continue wearing.
Prince Louis – who was blessed at the Chapel Royal, St. James’ Palace while adorably sleeping the whole 40 minutes through – is in good company; his big brother Prince George wore the newer white satin and Honiton lace piece, (designed by Queen Elizabeth II’s dressmaker, Angela Kelly) for his own christening.
The older royals were equally as stylish as the tiny tot; his mother Kate Middleton posed in an Alexander McQueen dress and Jane Taylor fascinator, while Meghan Markle took a backseat on the style front by selecting an understated olive Ralph Lauren look (the same brand she wore during her Wimbledon 2018 outing).
But it’s not just the Duchess of Cambridge and her third son whose fashion is catching eyes with the portraits from Clarence House, taken by Matt Holyoak. The whole gang co-ordinated ties and suits, as well as generally keeping to a creams and blues color scheme for the royal boy.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children Princess Charlotte and Prince George were all smiles in the Morning Room as they sat alongside dad, Prince William, as well as uncle Prince Harry. Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall appear in the background of two of the four images, while Kate’s brother, James Middleton, sister Pippa Middleton, brother-in-law James Matthews, plus their parents Michael and Carole Middleton, were also present.
One shot features just mom and son in the garden of Clarence House and it’s enough to make anyone want to buy a whole new wardrobe for the next family picture day. And if there’s anyone to take the fashion lead from, it’s Kate Middleton.
