Over the years, we’ve borne witness to many exciting moments for the British royal family – from the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton to the births of Prince George and Princess Charlotte. With the latest addition to the royal family appearing in public, safely nestled in the Duchess’ arms only seven hours after being born, a new successor to the throne arrived on Monday morning.
In this royal retrospective, we take a look back at the growth of the royal family, from the couple’s engagement announcement all the way to the birth of their third child, with plenty of adorable family photos thrown in for good measure.
On November 16th, 2010, Prince William and Kate Middleton formally announced their engagement, although the actual proposal had taken place on October 20th, 2010.
Prince William and Kate Middleton wed at Westminster Abbey on April 29th, 2011, formally adopting the titles of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge respectively.
On December 3rd, 2012, it was announced that the Duchess was pregnant with her first child. Prince George was welcomed into the world on July 22nd, 2013.
On September 8th, 2014, the impending birth of the Duke and Duchess’ second child was announced. Princess Charlotte was born on May 2nd, 2015.
On September 4th, 2017, the Duke and Duchess announced that they are pregnant with their third child.
On April 23rd, 2018, Kate Middleton gave birth to her third child. Prince William escorted his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, to the hospital so they could meet their new sibling.
