Gosha Rubchinskiy Halts Label and Launches New Venture
A cryptic message posted to Gosha Rubchinskiy’s Instagram page left fans scratching their collective heads. With no warning, Rubchinskiy has announced that he is shuttering his label, but Business of Fashion got to the bottom of it. Apparently, “the Gosha Rubchinskiy brand as currently conceived will cease to exist following the Autumn/Winter 2018 season. As a consequence, the label will not present a collection in Paris in June. Comme des Garçons is presently working with Rubchinskiy and his team to devise new ways to make and sell product, according to the spokesperson.”

Hedi Slimane Clinches $11.5 million in Lawsuit Against Kering
Hedi Slimane’s radical tenure at Saint Laurent helped the company cross the billion-dollar revenue mark, but the designer maintained after his departure that he had been underpaid for his work. In a lawsuit filed against Saint Laurent’s parent company, Kering, Slimane alleged that he had been underpaid by $11.5 million after taxes for his last year of service. In 2016, Slimane’s salary was less than $816,000, despite the fact that he had tripled sales as Creative Director. This week, Slimane won his lawsuit, and the French courts have awarded him $11.5 million in compensation.
