Julia Louis-Dreyfus Announces Battle with Breast Cancer

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the Emmy award-winning comedienne behind some of television’s most memorable female characters like Elaine of Seinfeld and Selina Meyer of Veep, issued a public statement this week regarding her recent breast-cancer diagnosis. Although the tone of her statement reflected an optimistic outlook, Louis-Dreyfus pleaded the case for universal healthcare for all US citizens.

“The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal healthcare a reality,” she said. Concern, sympathy, and support poured in from all corners of the world, with one particularly memorable tribute coming from former US Veep Joe Biden.

'Game of Thrones' Actors Reveal a Surprise Engagement

While fans have been rooting for Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen since the beginning of HBO’s wildly successful fantasy show Game of Thrones, reality had something else in store. It wasn’t the flaxen-haired Mother of Dragons who caught actor Kit Harington’s eye, but rather an actress named Rose Leslie, with whom he had an on-screen romance many seasons ago. Leslie played the defiant Ygritte, Jon Snow’s first love on the show. The two fell quickly for each other in real life and recently revealed their engagement in the most adorably old-fashioned way possible.

Balmain Runway Is Awash in Supermodel Revival

There was a massive supermodel moment on the Versace runway for Spring/Summer 2018 that paid homage to Gianni Versace with a reunion of supermodels like Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell. Not to be outdone by his peers, Olivier Rousteing of Balmain rounded up one of the best casts of Paris Fashion Week, which featured supers from the early aughts such as Karolina Kurkova, Natalia Vodianova, and Alessandra Ambrosio. This is the kind of #BalmainArmy recruitment we can get behind.

Beyoncé's New Release Supports Disaster Victims

In her very first release since giving birth to her twins, Beyoncé has remixed J Balvin’s “Mi Gente” – and her version is good. However, Queen Bey wasn’t just doing this one for the fans. In fact, she pledged all of the profits from the sale of the single to aid relief efforts in Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the Caribbean, all of which have recently been devastated by hurricanes and earthquakes. She also linked out to multiple organizations that are helping the same cause on her website, urging her fans to show their support.

The Prince Meets a Popcorn Thief

Just when every breaking news story seemed more dismal than the last, a ray of sunshine broke upon the horizon. In one of the most adorable displays of thievery that we’ve ever seen, a young girl seated next to Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in Toronto helped herself to his popcorn. The moment caught fire on social media – not only was it totally adorable, but it also hinted at what a good dad Prince Harry might someday make.
