This week saw the who’s who of Dubai gathered to celebrate the showcase of the brand new KOA development in Al Barari, hosted by Savoir Flair. Set inside the beautiful newly-built establishment, the suhoor was filled with good food, good company, and even better architecture.
On arrival, guests were guided through a candlelit staircase before reaching the main venue, which was beautifully dressed with a quintessentially modern boho-arabesque aesthetic by event planners Cherry on Top. Wooden-pallet coffee tables sat on traditional Moroccan rugs and were adorned with gilded vases displaying peonies in deep rust and bright fuschia.
Calm yellow lighting bounced off sheer drapes and around the high-ceilinged room, creating a truly grand entrance (and great selfie lighting) for the influencers and designers who attended. Amongst the guest list were some of the region’s most influential young men and women, including Karen Wazen, Mahmoud Sidani, Dana Hourani, Lina Mustafa, and Ahmad Daabas. And of course, the serene setting did not disappoint in providing a beautiful backdrop for their Instagram feeds.
Local and international designers such as Lilian Afshar, Ayah Tabari, Arwa Al Banawi, and Reema Al Banna were given a guided tour through the two-bedroom duplex, taking in the inspirational design and construction – a favorite aspect being the huge closet space and floor-to-ceiling windows displaying uninterrupted views of the city skyline. Later on in the evening, guests were treated to special performances, both musical and poetic, by a talented group from Poetry Slam Dubai.
Another talking point of the night was the charming menu by Dish, which provided a plethora of food options ranging from traditional Arabic mezze dishes to modern-day marvels in the form of desserts (doughnuts on sticks were especially popular). The food looked just as good as it tasted, complementing the night brimming with appreciation for all types of art and design to a T.
