If the nostalgic side of you that can’t give up on instant cameras is constantly in conflict with the side that’s forced to live on your phone 24/7, you’re in luck because there’s a new kid on the app block. Entitled Polaroid ‘Swing’, it has been designed with a mission to “reimagine photography for the mobile era” by creating an entirely new visual medium: the moving photograph.
Tech geeks will find comfort in the fact that the app is backed by Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, while art aficionados will love the fact that photographer Cole Rise – who designed Instagram’s original filters – oversees creative direction as Polaroid’s first artist-in-residence since Andy Warhol. So what does all this hype translate to for you?
In three words or less: plenty of laughs. Polaroid Swing allows you to capture memories by taking one-second snapshots that are brought to life. And, it goes without saying, these animated photos can then easily be shared on social media. The app is currently available for iPhone, and promises to be accessible to Android users soon.
