It’s that rare and magical time in Dubai – we’re not complaining about the cold, nor are we complaining about the heat. Evenings during the next few months are ideal to take in a little al fresco cinema, and you’ll be surprised at just how many venues – ranging from rooftops to beaches – you can choose from. Read on to see Savoir Flair’s top picks for where you can curl up with popcorn and soda for a must-see flick.

VOX Outdoor

If you’re hoping to watch a new release like Doctor Sleep or Playing with Fire, the two outposts of VOX Outdoor are great options – the view is reason enough. The first is a lounge-style cinema on the rooftop of Galleria Mall, where seating options accommodate both singles and couples. And, in true Dubai fashion, there’s a VIP package as well. The second location, meanwhile, is at Aloft City Centre Deira and happens to be the very first licensed outdoor cinema in Dubai.

Cinema Under the Stars

This one gets our vote for bringing free cinema to a neighborhood that’s a veritable haven for foodies – we suggest you make a beeline for Pickl right after. On the roster? Oscar-nominated Capernaum on November 29, lighthearted comedy I Feel Pretty on December 6, and the world’s first fully painted feature film Loving Vincent on December 27, amongst others.

Entry is free of charge, but food and drinks will be charged separately.

Cinema on the Sand

Yes, we’re still horrified by that video, but the good news here is that Cinema on the Sand (which screens crowdpleasers like A Star Is Born and Pirates of the Caribbean) is one of the better offerings at Zero Gravity – think: bean bags, cinema snacks, and views of the Arabian Gulf and city skyline. Entry is AED 50, but you get AED 50 back in food and beverage vouchers, so this one’s a steal.
