The Savoir Flair team is perpetually on a quest to find the kind of space that you leave feeling completely and utterly satisfied and, with its impeccably curated selection of food and design, we’ve just discovered another address that matters. Meet The Lighthouse, the latest addition to d3’s growing roster of retail outlets.
Part museum gift shop, part trendy eatery, this artsy space isn’t your average concept store. Founded by an avid art and design enthusiast with a strong editorial eye, it is named after the Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It also pays tribute to Virginia Woolf’s acclaimed novel To the Lighthouse and her Bloomsbury Group fellows, who frequently lingered over meals for conversation and companionship – a philosophy reflected in the relaxed ambience of the space.
Walk around and you’ll stumble upon a rotating collection of quirky-cool design brands from around the world, including France, Sweden, Mexico, and more. Interior junkies will love the resin-dipped wood furniture from Alcarol, artisanal glassware by Skogsberg & Smart, and Andy Warhol-inspired tabletop accents by Ligne Blanche. For the adamant minimalist, the Washi-paper accessories by Japanese brand Siwa and handcrafted cell-charging devices from Orée are must-haves. Also on offer are candy-colored bowls by Alexandra von Fürstenberg, crumpled washed-linen throws from Maison de Vacances, and Chez Dédé notebooks just waiting to welcome your musings.
If you manage to look past this deliciously eclectic selection, be sure to settle in for a bite as the kitchen is led by none other than Chef Izu Ani of La Petite Maison and La Serre fame. Inspired by the flavors of the Mediterranean, the menu’s signature dishes include sea-bream carpaccio, grilled-lamb cutlets, and baked sea bass with ras el hanout and harissa wrapped in vine leaves. Dessert? Well, if the offerings at any of his former outlets are anything to go by, you’re set.
