Millennials are so 2016 – especially as there’s a new demographic in town that every fashion and beauty brand is attempting to court right now. Meet Generation Z, born in 1995 or later and marked as being the most iconoclastic, inclusive, politically motivated, fashion-forward, and open-minded generation ever. As an emerging group of “Z-ers” arrives, Savoir Flair is here to break down the most inspiring “It” girls who are leading the charge when it comes to political activism, creative talent, and stylish know-how.

Staz Lindes

Staz Lindes is the living embodiment of insouciant, rock ‘n’ roll cool combined with political consciousness and a great taste in music. As the frontwoman for SoCal post-punk/garage-rock band The Paranoyds, Lindes is comfortable on stage, which came in handy when she was discovered by Hedi Slimane and hired to walk the Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2016 runway.

Rowan Blanchard

Although she played the titular character in Disney’s Girl Meets World for several years, actress Rowan Blanchard was dealt a blow when she found out the show had been canceled. However, the future is bright for Blanchard, who landed a role in the forthcoming film adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s famed young-adult novel A Wrinkle in Time. This actress’ adorable face belies her sharp mind and powerful convictions. Last year, she became a hero to young girls everywhere when she penned an essay on Tumblr about intersectional feminism. Needless to say, we’re huge fans of her outspoken concern for social justice.

Ella Purnell

Ella Purnell has earned her seat at the Chanel Métiers d’Art table (and other illustrious placements) due to her roles in popular films like Maleficent, The Legend of Tarzan, and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Already, the 20-year-old actress has earned legions of fans for her on-screen talents, bold #girlpower missives on social media, and innate sense of style.

Amandla Stenberg

Los Angeles native Amandla Stenberg is recognized for her appearance in The Hunger Games, but she is most well-known for her political and social activism. While the 18-year-old has forthcoming lead roles in films like the World War II drama Where Hands Touch and the romantic drama Everything, Everything, Stenberg has also been called “one of the most incendiary voices of her generation” – in fact, she once publicly called out Kendall Jenner for cultural appropriation.

Selah Marley

Selah Marley is blessed with the most amazing genetics. As the offspring of Bob Marley’s son Rohan Marley and Lauryn Hill, good looks and creative talent run through her bloodstream. Naturally, the 17-year-old has turned to modeling as her initial career, having campaigned for Calvin Klein and walked in the Yeezy Season 4 show. However, the future holds a lot of promise for the young beauty, evidenced by an Instagram page filled with shots of her singing karaoke with Pharrell Williams and hanging with her famous family, as well as a SoundCloud page with an ethereal track called “Star”.

Rina Fukushi

Rina Fukushi is already a veteran in the modeling world, having landed her first job at the age of 14. Lately, this 17-year-old has taken the fashion world by storm – she walked in the Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Bottega Veneta, Chloé, and Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2017 shows and landed major campaigns for Chloé and Coach. Fukushi also admits to being a vintage-clothes hound with a deep appreciation for fashion. We’re looking forward to seeing her soon on the Fall/Winter 2018 runways, but in the meantime, we’ll be satisfied with stalking her vibrant social-media accounts.

Yara Shahidi

Yara Shahidi is only 16 years old, but she is already a co-star on the hit comedy Black-ish and a recent recipient of the Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN) award. She is also a model signed to New York’s Women Management modeling agency and a passionate social activist. Shahidi is half Iranian and half African American, which makes media diversity a big issue for her. She is an outspoken advocate for people of color, as well as a STEM activist.

Kate Bowman

Like the other amazing young women on this list, Kate Bowman is both a model and an outspoken political advocate on social media, but she inspires in other ways as well – via style, beauty, and art. As an intern at a gallery in New York and an avid art enthusiast, Bowman’s interests tend toward the intellectual, but that hasn’t stopped her from becoming a muse to fashion insiders like Mansur Gavriel’s designers and beauty guru Pat McGrath.

Reese Blutstein

Reese Blutstein, the 20-year-old Atlanta blogger behind, is a natural social-media star. With an informative blog filled with outfit-inspiration posts, makeup tutorials, beauty and shopping recommendations, and more, she is leading the pack of Generation Z bloggers poised to make an impact on the future of fashion.

Millie Bobby Brown

The instant cult-hit Netflix series Stranger Things lent the world a singular obsession with the show’s main character Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown. Since her debut appearance, we can’t get enough of this inspiring young star, who is both preternaturally self-assured and unapologetically brainy. There is already talk of her assuming a future role as Princess Leia in the rebooted Star Wars series, and we have only one recommendation for Hollywood: make it happen.
