Running from December 8th to 10th, Meet d3 is Dubai Design District’s flagship culture festival showcasing the best in design, art, and technology. From installations to unique food concepts and special musical performances, here’s a breakdown of what we’re most looking forward to at this weekend’s jam-packed event.

Installations

Nakkash Gallery’s ‘Chic Sheep’
This public art installation will pepper 100 ‘Chic Sheep’ around Dubai Design District as a symbol of new beginnings. The pieces, which have been designed by d3 partners, will then be auctioned off to the public to benefit the Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children.

GIF Paradise by Satwa 3000
This four-room experiential space by Satwa 3000 will allow visitors to create and star in their own custom animated GIFs.

Shrumen Lumen
Shrumen Lumen is a garden of gigantic, origami-inspired, kinetic, and interactive mushrooms that change colors and shape in response to your movements and have been featured at events such as Burning Man in the past.

Music

Etyen
Musical experimenter Etyen will bring together a combination of violins, vocals, and electronic sounds to create a one-of-a-kind mix.

December 8th from 6 p.m. onwards

Narcy
Considered one of the pioneers of Arab Hip Hop, Narcy will present his new multimedia show entitled ‘Narcinerama’.

December 8th from 6 p.m. onwards

The Wanton Bishops
Lebanese band The Wanton Bishops blends blues, indie rock, and a dose of Middle-Eastern sounds to create a wicked mix of new musical jams.

December 8th from 6 p.m. onwards

Cinema Akil
Not technically a concert but still in the music genre will be Cinema Akil’s experimental ciné-concert, which will combine “Techno/Electro-Sha’abi” music from Egypt in synchronized harmony against Fritz Lang’s timeless silent film, Metropolis.

December 9th from 4 p.m. onwards

Myriam Fares
Myriam Fares, the record-setting Lebanese singer and entertainer known as “The Queen of Stage”, will perform a live show to round out the weekend.

December 10th from 2 p.m. onwards

Capture d3
Capture d3 is a curated initiative by Al Tayer Insignia and Dubai Design District to showcase emerging design talent, from fashion and accessories to product and furniture designers.

Tom Dixon Pop-Up
Considered one of the UK’s foremost designers, Tom Dixon will host a pop-up shop that promises to be your go-to destination for unique homeware finds.

Ka’ak Al Manara
Looking for some Lebanese soul food? Look no further than Ka’ak Al Manara’s ka’ak, a sweet sesame bread stuffed with savory and sweet fillings.
