Running until October 29th, Dubai Design Week returns today with a program chock-full of cultural events, talks, and workshops. In fact, this year’s edition offers over 150 events to participate in across Dubai, with many of the key exhibitions and installations taking place in the Dubai Design District (d3). Here, Savoir Flair breaks down which events to attend based on your interests, whether that’s art, food, travel, culture, or the future.

Adventurous Foodies

BiCE Mare’s Underwater Dining Experience
Don’t miss BiCE Mare’s unique underwater-themed presentation led by the restaurant’s head chef, Leonardo Maltese. The five-course menu is perfect for the adventurous foodie, with creative dishes such as edible sand, rocks, and coral on offer alongside seafood imported specifically for the occasion.

Souk Al Bahar, Downtown Dubai

Sheikha Wafa Hasher Al Maktoum x Mirzam
Mirzam has teamed up with Sheikha Wafa Hasher Al Maktoum to collaborate on a chocolate bar featuring toasted sesame seeds infused with orange oil as well as speciality wrapping created by the Emirati designer and photographer. You can watch each step of the production process in the museum-style factory.

Karam Coffee Experience
Ever wondered what it takes to create your favorite beverage? This workshop will give participants the opportunity to better understand the coffee journey, from plant to cup. You’ll also learn how to expertly analyze the aroma, flavor, color, and taste of your favorite cup of joe.

Aspiring Artists

Islamic Geometric Design Masterclass with Eric Broug
Eric Broug is an author and educator, specializing in Islamic geometric design. Designers and architects are encouraged to join him to learn how to incorporate Islamic geometric designs into their practices.

Urban Sketchers
Open to all levels, this workshop will provide expert tips and tricks on style and technique to those interested in drawing. Participants will capture a variety of spaces and objects from their surroundings in Dubai Design District.

Downtown Design
For those curious about the commercial side of design, the fourth edition of the Downtown Design fair will present a roster of emerging and established brands specializing in everything from furniture and textiles to lighting and home accessories.

Byahe: A Typographic Exploration
Travel around the world with the Byahe exhibition and film screening, which explores various cultures through the craft of hand-painted signage.

20 Icons of French Design

Jewelry Junkies

Hexalite
Don’t miss Emirati conceptual artist and designer Zeinab Al Hashemi’s collaboration with Swarovski. The exhibition will center on the hexagon, combining Swarovski crystals and mirrored steel in 33 hexagonal structures to create an infinite series of kaleidoscopic views.
