It’s no secret that artisanal chocolate and Dubai are having a moment – whether it’s the highly anticipated opening next week of the 13,000-square-foot Boutique Le Chocolat, which will carry over 700 different types of premium chocolate from 28 luxury brands, or the recent unveiling of the Mirzam chocolate factory, which opened its doors in Alserkal Avenue this past Tuesday.
In addition to selling its mouth-watering creations in the Al Quoz location, Mirzam wants you to witness the complete transformation from cocoa bean to chocolate bar. To do this, the company has cleverly opened the doors to its manufacturing facility, giving visitors the chance to make their way through every stage of the production process in order to see firsthand how the brand’s bars are made of only three key ingredients: cocoa beans, unrefined sugar, and cocoa butter.
However, what really sets Mirzam apart is the variety of spices that have been added to its chocolate bars – seasonings inspired by the maritime routes navigated by ancient traders during their quests for the world’s most exotic spices, such as anise and cinnamon. In fact, the brand is named after the Mirzam star, which sailors used in order to make their way to various ports during their epic spice journeys. What could possibly be sweeter?
