In the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside sits the breathtaking, 16th century Il Palagio villa. The estate, which is owned by superstar musician Sting and his wife Trudie Styler, features 900 acres of lush forests and shimmering lakes. It is located in the heart of Chianti, a region of Italy renowned for its abundance of grains, oil, sugar beets, peaches, apricots, and cherries. A large swimming pool, a life-sized chess board, and bee hives producing a wide variety of honeys are just some of the “little” extras to look forward to.
Apart from the idyllic landscape and location, this estate has plenty of history to its name as well, having belonged to the Countess Carlotta Barbolani of Montauto – the widow of the Duke of San Clemente – for 150 years. It was then sold to Duke Simone Vincenzo Velluti Zati di San Clemente and finally to Sting and Trudie in 1999.
Luckily for us, Il Palagio is no longer reserved for royalty and Grammy-award winners. Sting and Trudie recently opened the property up to rent, where six guesthouses can sleep up to 50 guests and accommodate up to 200 partygoers. But, of course, living like Sting comes at a (hefty) price – each cottage will cost you approximately AED 29,000/SAR 29,625 per week to rent.
