The meals-on-wheels trend is getting a more permanent spot in Dubai’s culinary landscape following the announcement of the city’s first gourmet food-truck park, Last Exit by Meraas.
Scheduled to open at the end of this month and located within Jebel Ali (or Exit 11 on Sheikh Zayed Road going towards Dubai), the park is a new concept by Meraas, the Dubai-based holding company known for projects such as City Walk and BoxPark. Describing the first-of-its-kind initiative, a company spokesperson said, “Outlandish and imaginative in design, the zany outdoor concept has been meticulously created by leveraging rehashed automotive parts throughout its structure as well as in common areas, offering motorists and commuters between Abu Dhabi and Dubai an array of interesting dining choices.”
The culinary concept will include both dine-in and drive-through options, with an extensive selection of cuisines available. Baja Fresh, Big Smoke Burger, Burger Pit, Clinton St. Bakery, Il Caffè di Roma, Operation Falafel, Poco Loco, Starbucks, The Brass, The Hot Dog Stand, and Urban Seafood have already confirmed their participation. A number of retail and convenience stores, a children’s play area, and a prayer room are also scheduled for the complex.
