Almond Milk Recipe

If we told you that a guilt-free chocolate milkshake was actually possible, you’d think we were delusional, right? Well, we’re not. This cacao “milk” – a combination of homemade vanilla almond milk sweetened with dates and blended with raw cacao powder and frozen bananas – manages to satisfy even the most stubborn of chocolate cravings. You’re welcome.

The use of raw cacao powder, which is unprocessed cacao that has been pressed at a very low temperature, means that this recipe is full of antioxidants and has a more complex chocolate flavor than if processed cocoa were used. The addition of maca powder (a Peruvian root vegetable known for its energy-boosting qualities) adds a delicious malted note to the milk. Trust us, you won’t be able to stop sipping.

P.S. Although it might be tempting to use readymade almond milk in order to save time, the flavor is much deeper when you prepare it from scratch. This recipe calls for a nut bag to strain the liquid from the almonds, which can be purchased here. You won’t regret putting in a bit of extra time for loads of extra taste – promise!
