In keeping with the growing gluten-free movement in the region, home-grown Dubai eatery The Lime Tree Café unveiled a gluten-free bakery concept this week. Until May 28th, The Lime Tree Café’s Sheikh Zayed Road outlet will be hosting a pop-up to celebrate the new menu, with gluten-free goodies, such as triple-layer tiramisu cake, banana loaf, brownies, pumpkin-and-feta thyme bread, salted-caramel fudge biscotti, and quinoa-and-seed crackers, available for purchase. The new items are made with gluten-free-certified ingredients and prepared by The Lime Tree Café’s dedicated team of chefs.
The launch of The Lime Tree Café’s Gluten-Free Bakery was inspired by its owner, Corinne Bowker, and her personal struggle as a Celiac sufferer living in Dubai. Bowker tells Savoir Flair, “When dining out with friends and family, it is often difficult to find a menu with more than one gluten-free option on it. We have always wanted to be a café destination that caters for everyone in the community regardless of likes, dislikes, and allergies. Expanding our menu to include our new gluten-free range from The Gluten-Free Bakery is in line with that vision. We don’t want our gluten-intolerant customers to miss out, especially on cakes and the yummy stuff!”
The Lime Tree Café team has been developing these products for the last four years, including a year dedicated to the construction of a gluten-free bakery area in order to prevent any cross-contamination. In addition to stopping by the pop-up, you can also order a range of gluten-free cakes and breads for pick-up starting today.
