Showcasing in Dubai Design District until April 5th is celebrated Bronx-born photographer Lisa Leone’s never-before-seen archival photography. Her work, which profiles some of the world’s most legendary hip-hop stars, is being presented in Dubai in collaboration with regional sneaker-focused and street-centric platform Sole DXB.
The exhibition focuses on images from Leone’s book Here I Am, which spans music, dance, art, and fashion. From images of rapper Snoop Dogg on set at his first video to Nas during his first recording, Leone’s work captures hip hop pioneers in action, aiming to triumph the characters who forged the path and continue to heavily influence the music genre’s popularity. Along with the Here I Am photos on display, Leone will also show a selection of images from her recent trip to Sole DXB in Dubai in November.
“I’m very excited about coming back to Dubai. On my last trip, although short, I could really feel the enthusiasm and passion for a culture so close to my heart,” Leone says of her return to the city.
Be sure to check out the exhibition, which is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., (closed on Fridays), in building 7 of Dubai Design District.
