Diala Makki, the youthful and energetic Dubai TV reporter and celebrity, was a guest at Monaco’s Bal De La Rose last week. The charitable Monte Carlo event, founded in 1954 by the late Princess Grace of Monaco and held annually in Monaco in March, is one of the most exclusive and prestigious on the international social scene.
Hosted by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and Princess Caroline of Hanover, this year’s event, which took place at the Sporting Club Salle Des Etoiles, was decorated as a Cuban Buena Vista Social Club in a colorful set-up imagined by the one and only maestro, Karl Lagerfeld.
Makki, an official guest of SBM and the only Arab journalist and star in attendance, was joined by the “crème de la crème” of international high society to raise funds for the Grace Kelly Foundation, proceeds of which go to supporting young talents in the Arts.
Looking resplendent in a Rami Al Ali couture gown, Roger Dubuis watch, and ‘Plume de Paon’ Boucheron earrings, Makki tells Savoir Flair, “Representing Dubai and the region in this prestigious event in Monaco is an honor and pleasure for me, as it represents a philanthropic initiative hosted by the Monegasque royal family. My attendance reflects the DNA of Dubai and the initiatives of its ruler, His Highness Sheikh Mohamad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in supporting rising talents.”
Her visit marks the first of a future collaboration bridging Dubai and the region with the best of the international scene, mainly in philanthropic activities.
