Whether you’ve joined the Snapchat bandwagon or not, there’s no denying its increasing popularity. The voyeuristic social media tool is rapidly becoming the quickest way to get an up-close-and-personal peek at everything from the behind-the-scenes of the world’s most beloved fashion brands to the minute-by-minute details of your friends’ lives.
This week, Snapchat rocked the digital world when it announced that the platform will now allow users to create custom geo-filters, which at the moment are only available according to one’s current geographical location or via sponsorship. So, in other words, if I’m sitting at the Savoir Flair offices and I take a snap at this very moment, I can choose to add a Dubai geo-filter to it. But with this announcement, I can now customize my geo-filter to say, for example, ‘Savoir Flair Headquarters’ or even ‘Dylan’s Desk’. This becomes particularly exciting for events, such as a friend’s wedding, where the bride and groom can have a custom Snapchat filter created for their big day. The filters begin at $5.
