Contemporary Japanese restaurant concept Sumosan, which regularly draws celebrity crowds for its melt-in-your-mouth sushi, has confirmed that come March it will launch a Dubai outlet as part of The Billionaire Mansion project at the Taj Dubai hotel. The beloved eatery, which was founded in Moscow in 1997 by Alexander Wolkow and his daughter Janina, before opening in London’s Mayfair neighborhood, will feature an Asian-inspired menu that will be sure to pique the interest of the most discerning Dubai diners. According to Sumosan, Wolkow will work with Executive Chef Bubker Belkhit to recreate the restaurant’s most admired dishes — including paper-thin sliced sashimi with yuzu dressing and fantastically fresh Peking duck sushi — as well as design new creations specifically for the Dubai eatery.
Sumosan will be one prong of The Billionaire Life Dubai franchise, the luxury lifestyle concept owned by Italian businessman Flavio Briatore that has made a name for itself in Italy, Turkey, and Monaco, before finally setting its sights on Dubai. The Billionaire Mansion will be housed within Taj Dubai hotel in Business Bay and will include a dance floor “reminiscent of Bodrum, Istanbul, and Malindi Beach”, a karaoke room, as well as the highly anticipated Sumosan restaurant.
