Last week, Vine co-founder Dom Hofmann launched a new app – and the digital world hasn’t stopped talking about it since. If Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Vine, Periscope, Snapchat, and Instagram aren’t enough to feed your social-media hunger, say hello to Peach.
Currently available only in Apple’s app store, Peach pulls the most entertaining parts of social media and offers them all in one central place. According to the app’s description, “Peach is a refreshing fun and simple way to keep up with friends and be yourself.”
So what sets Peach apart from the thousands of other messaging apps currently available? Peach has “magic words” that allow you to type things such as “gif” and the app will populate several gif options from its database for you to choose from and send to your friends. Type “song” and watch as Peach shares whatever is playing on your phone at that very moment. There’s even a “draw” feature that allows users to create and send original sketches to friends.
Interestingly, Peach is not private like Snapchat. However, your content will only be posted to friends that you approve. There are already reports of celebrities such as Taylor Swift jumping on the Peach bandwagon, with speculation that these may actually be false accounts aiming to nab stars’ usernames as the app continues to gain traction.
