The party is over, you’ve made your resolutions, and 2016 is in full swing. Now what?
Statistically, only eight percent of the population actually sticks to New Year’s resolutions. “Getting your life on track” can mean a lot of things to a lot of different people, but there are some critical steps to keep in mind when planning for the next twelve months to ensure you don’t stray too far from your personal goals.
Below, Savoir Flair breaks down four tips for conquering this year’s resolutions, plus provides seven stylish agendas to accompany your 2016 journey.
1. Break down the goal. What exactly needs to happen for you to be successful? Often, our New Year’s goals are lofty. For example, “travel more”: Where do you want to travel? What costs are associated with this travel? How much time in the year do you have to travel? Consider your resolution from all angles.
2. Once you’ve broken down the goal, write down what needs to be done and when in order for you to accomplish it. For instance, using the above example, if you want to travel more, schedule your trips in advance. Keep track of how much you have to save each week, month, or year, to make travel possible.
3. Evaluate your time. Writing down your activities in a planner will help you see where your time is going so you can track how your days are being spent in a highly visual way. Color code if necessary. Spending all of your time on Facebook instead of travel blogs? Make a note.
4. Track your progress. With all of your schedule in one central place, you’ll be able to evaluate your progress. Decide at what points (One month? Six months?) you’ll stop to see if your current system is working. Make adjustments if necessary.
