The humble sandwich has to be the most genius food invention of all time. You basically put all the ingredients you love between two slices of bread and it’s a meal! What’s not to love? In celebration of National Sandwich Day, we’ve put together a list of the best sandwiches in the city.
SALT’s Chicken Cheetos Sliders
One of the first pioneers of the food-truck movement in Dubai, SALT has stolen our hearts with its Chicken Cheetos slider. The sandwich is filled with deep-fried chicken and topped with crispy Cheetos, melted cheese, and fresh lettuce, all on a buttered bun.

Slapfish’s Lobster Grilled Cheese
Slapfish offers a quintessential American seafood experience, from the lobster rolls to the New England clam chowder, but our favourite item on the menu has to be the lobster grilled cheese. Chopped Maine lobster and shrimp are stuffed between two slices of buttery sourdough bread with tomato, jack cheese, and the restaurant’s signature “awesome” sauce. It’s then grilled to perfection until gooey; the result is the epitome of melt-in-your-mouth goodness.

Cocoa Room’s Ninjawich
Any meal at Cocoa Room is always going to be bordering on pure excess, but in the best way possible. The Ninjawich sandwich takes sweet-meets-salty to a whole new level and is pretty much the breakfast sandwich that dreams are made of. Maple and chipotle candied bacon french toast is filled with sunny-side up eggs, southern fried bacon strips, and sharp cheddar cheese, and it’s served alongside sweet potato fries with Sriracha maple hollandaise.

Jedoudna’s Chicken Shawarma
One simply can’t mention sandwiches in Dubai without talking about shawarmas. This Lebanese casual eatery’s sandwich ticks all the boxes on our checklist: tender chicken fresh off the spit, creamy garlic sauce, crispy french fries, and tangy dibs roman (pomegranate molasses). It’s just perfect.

Maple Leaf Deli’s Maple Leaf Sandwich
With its in-house smoked meats and indulgent poutine, Maple Leaf Deli is a little piece of Montreal in Dubai. The Maple Leaf Sandwich is our order of choice and consists of tender smoked meat with house dressing and caramelized onions topped with melted Swiss cheese and served on rye bread. It’s gratifying and moreish on a whole new level.

Jam Bar’s The Jam Bar Sandwich
When that sugar craving hits, head to Jam Bar for a scoop of its homemade ice cream served inside a filled donut of your choice. Try the ‘John Lemon’, which is a lemon curd-stuffed donut with vanilla ice cream, or the ‘Boston Common’, which is a play on a Boston Cream Pie with salted-caramel ice cream. You can’t go wrong.

Clinton Street Baking Company’s Veggie Sandwich
The New York City institution known for its pancakes and long lines is now a Dubai favorite. While most of the diners there might be indulging in some fried chicken and waffles, opt for the incredibly fresh veggie sandwich. Toasted seven-grain bread is smeared with an in-house herb mayo and generously stuffed with organic avocado, tomato, sprouts, and Muenster cheese. It’s hearty without being too heavy and perfect for lunch.
